Chapter 9: The Preparation

(Reader's pov)

"A ball?" Yellow asked in sudden interest.
We were in the ballroom, Blue, Yellow and I were sitting on our thrones.

"We haven't had a ball in 6,000 years.." Yellow said. "We haven't had Pink in 6,000 years!" Blue added on. I hummed in amusement, "Yeah!" Pink agreed, she was wearing her original clothing, I found it strange how her structure made the outfit look different. I shrugged it off though.

"When White shows up we can tell her why we need her help on earth!" Pink said hopefully, "-And! This could also mark the beginning of the Era 3!" Blue added while smiling warmly to Pink.
"You're right, it's brilliant." Yellow agreed pointing her finger up to prove her point. "Thank you Yellow! Thank you (c/n)! Thank you Blue!" Thanks Pink with a cheeky grin, it never failed to make me giggle.

" If White's gonna be there everything has to be perfect!" Said Blue. "Pink, can you manage this on your own?" Blue asked. "Our pearls can help you get started." Suddenly, Blue's pearl was summoned in front of Pink, mine did too, then Yellow's. "At your service Pink Diamond.." Blue Pearl said softly while saluting. Blue's pearl is so polite!

"Make sure you go over all of our customs with Pink since she has so much trouble recalling her past here on Homeworld." Yellow ordered, even when she wasn't facing the thrones I could tell Yellow Pearl had a smug look on her face. "Yes my Diamond." She said.

"Be sure the entire ballroom is ready, but I'm sure Pink has this covered." I reminded my pearl, "Yes my Diamond!" She said sweetly. I felt my face warming up. That's until Pink's pearl spoke without being spoken to, "Era 3-- Steven, you're already changing the world!" Pink smiled at her pearl, "Yeah!," She turned to the three pearls, "C'mon Party Pearls!" She called happily, but they remained saluting.
"We are at your command, Pink Diamond." The said in unison, "Just call me Steven." Pink looked a little annoyed, "Whatever you command Pink Diamond." The three said completely ignoring Pink's preference.
(Okay I found that scene aggravating 😒)

Me, Yellow, and Blue left to do our own things while Pink planned the ball.

(C/D's pearl pov)

I had no idea what a balloon was, but Pink Diamond wanted it. "Balloons everywhere! Confetti cannons too!" Pink Diamond suggested energetically, "Dibs on being the confetti cannon!" The amethyst said informally, which bothered me because this was a Diamond! I didn't care if she was okay with it, amethysts are low ranking gems! My Diamond would've never let this behavior slide.
"Cannons are forbidden inside palace walls." Yellow Pearl reminded Pink Diamond, looking down at her short form with hidden confusion. "These.. balloons you're referring to are unprecedented and therefore out of the question." Yellow Pearl said narrowing her eyes.
"So..." Pink Diamond began, "What is precedented and therefore in the question?" Pink Diamond asked in pure wonder. Wow, she really doesn't remember anything. I think to myself. But I decided to demonstrate.

"You are to sit on your elevated throne! While the members of your court indicate to you that they are present" I tried to copy Yellow Pearl's cocky attitude, but it wasn't quite the way Yellow Pearl does it.
"Yikes that sounds pretty dry.." the amethyst commented. I clentched my fist and held back the urge to slap that crude amethyst. Yellow Pearl took the amethyst's comment literally, "Liquids are forbidden in the ballroom."
"A-alright.." Pink Diamond said nervously, but then turned and jumped all the way up into her elegant yet dusty pink throne. "From here you can accept or reject the members of your court at your leisure." Yellow Pearl explained. I sighed, she was so knowledgeable and straight forward, maybe a little cocky, but she was elegant in some ways, but I know she has eyes for someone else...

"My Diamond will do the same, as well (c/d), and Blue Diamond-- and if we are so lucky, all of us get to enjoy the impeccable judgement of White Diamond." Yellow Pearl said White Diamond's name a little too dreamy for me to handle, of course, I do find White Diamond to be perfect in every way, but in my gem my Diamond will always be number one!
"So.. when she gets here I'll just hop up there and talk to her?" Pink Diamond questioned while looking down as all of us. I was shocked at Pink Diamond's boldness, "Oh stars- no! I forgot how silly you can be..." Yellow Pearl said regretfully. "Everyone stays where they belong."

"Oh so..." Pink Diamond began as she jumped down ever so casually elegant right in front of her Crystal Gem friends. "I'll just wait until I get a chance to talk to her on the dancefloor!" She said happily and sure of herself. But once again, Yellow Pearl corrected her, "Pink Diamond!" Yellow Pearl said running back over to her.
"Your subjects will do the dancing for you, why would a Diamond want to dance?" Yellow Pearl questioned.

I think back one a special moment alone with my Diamond. She offered to dance with me, I have never seen such behavior before, especially since Pink Diamond's fake shattering. Her laughter was the only noise I could hear, her smile was the only thing I could see, her elegant Diamond hands were the only thing I could touch, happiness and joy were the only things I could feel.
I asked the same question, "Because it's fun!" She answered, spinning me around while the galaxy froze. I could never forget that day, not for the rest of my lowly pearl existence...

"Cause dancings fun!" Pink Diamond answered, both snapping me out of my thoughts, and almost felt like she read my mind. "What is...FUuuN?" Yellow Pearl said confused, I couldn't help but giggle. "You know it's when... You do something you wanna do just because it feels good!" The human who Pink Diamond called 'Connie' said. But Yellow Pearl simply glanced at Blue Pearl then back at the others, "I don't think we do that here..."

Not in the public eye... I said to her in my head, something she'll never hear. "Well, is there something you really like to do?" Asked Pink Diamond, looking at all three of us. "Oh!! *She slightly laughs* of course not! My feelings are irrelevant!" Not in my world... Shut it! Stupid feelings..
I glanced as Blue Pearl, who seemed to be forming the smallest smile she could muster. "I like to draw.." she confessed quietly, "W-what?!" Yellow Pearl suddenly asked flustered. "Can I see some of your stuff?" Pink Diamond asked encouragingly. Blue Pearl began to pull up little blue screens of her previous work, "Umm.. here, my Diamond allows me to draw during court proceedings," Blue Pearl shows a drawing of Yellow Diamond zapping someone with an amused look on her face "They're nothing much." She said bashfully.

"Let me see that," Yellow Pearl said as she takes the screens, observing them closely. She started scrolling through them, "You can't share these, they're highly confidential..." She stopped when she saw a drawing of herself, "Hmmm.. not bad~"
I chuckled to myself, it really was a nice drawing, Blue Pearl was incredibly talented. Yellow Pearl hands the screen back to Blue Pearl before making a random pose.

"Try a different angle." She said with a smirk, Pink Diamond laughed. "That's it! You like being a model!" She said.

Yellow Pearl would make a great model, I'd draw her any day... "And you like being an artist" Pink Diamond's words snap me out of my thoughts again, I really need to stop daydreaming. Yellow Pearl laughed, the sweetest thing to hear, all of us were oblivious to the fact that-

"Pink" Blue Diamond said from behind.
