"Kitty! Kitty, where are you?" I internally shouted to myself as I trudged between the twists and tangles of people at the airport. The fact that I was also holding a bucket-load of luggage was not helping either.
Suddenly, someone tapped me on the shoulder, causing me to let out a yelp and turn around in shock.
"Don't sneak up on me like that!" I let out a sigh of relief when I realised that it was Kitty. I collected myself and put my usual smile back on my face, ecstatic to see her. Everything felt so surreal — like I was in a fever dream.
"You got everything? Including that teddy bear, Mr Brown?" Kitty asked me, inspecting the exterior of my luggage
"Yes, yes, I have Mr Brown." I replied with a laugh.
"Who's that pretty bag for?" She asked, pointing to a small gift bag , which was tightly secured by a piece of blue ribbon tied in a bow.
"Oh, it's for Kai. He's coming to see me before we leave today!"
"Awww, that's so cute...Gonna be Dae and I soon!" She exclaimed, intertwining her fingers together with a smile on her face.
Just then, we heard an announcement on the intercom calling for the passengers of our flight to begin boarding. Where was he?
"You start getting checked in, I'll wait for Kai here!" I said to Kitty before she gave me a small nod, and walked away to the check ins.
I began strolling around the airport, seeing if I could spot him. Seconds turned into minutes, and I finally found myself opening my phone and texting him: 'Hey, where are you??' It felt as though I was walking for hours! Maybe he was behind me?
Just as I turned around, I forcefully felt a shoulder crash into mine, causing me to stumble back, and involuntarily drop the items that were in my hands.
"Oh my god, do you mind?" I uttered sharply to the person, gazing to the floor at all my belongings. I rapidly kneeled down and flipped over my phone to reveal a shattered screen. Lucky me. "My phone..."
"Watch where you're going!" A male, British voice spoke up, an authoritive tone being heard. He could have at least helped me pick my stuff up!
"Have some spacial awareness, would you? This is an airport, for god's sake." I snapped, looking up to see a tall, slender figure standing over me, his black hair parted perfectly down the centre, elegantly falling at the sides of his face. He had his hands secured in his trouser pockets, and he seemed to be wearing a school uniform.
I scanned his body up and down before stopping at his waist, which had a 'KISS' keychain attached to it.
"My face is up here?" He called out with a slight sly smirk on his face, causing me to look up at his eyes.
"KISS."
"Woah, I know I'm hot, but we just met..."
"Not you, idiot. The school. You go to KISS? I'm going to KISS!" I exclaimed with a slight laugh in my voice as I gathered my belongings in my arms before standing up in front of the boy. "I'm Steph Se—"
"Good to know." He cut me off before I was finished speaking and he began walking past me to his check-in area bumping my shoulder once again, except the second time was on purpose — what an asshole!
"Ugh...You owe me a new phone whoever you are!" I called out to him, except he just continued walking and didn't even acknowledge the fact that I was shouting for him.
I scoffed under my breath and rolled my eyes as I began scanning the airport for Kai once again.
"Last call. Would passengers for flight 261 Seoul, South Korea please board the plane!" I heard a lady's voice announce from a large speaker on the wall. That was my call.
I sighed to myself as a slight frown formed on my face. I pulled out my phone from my back pocket, lightly grazing my finger over the now-cracked screen, waiting for a text message or call to appear from Kai.
Nothing did.
I let out one last sigh before placing my phone back into my pocket, making my way to the fast-pass check in area before the plane left without me.

"Did you manage to see Kai? How was it?" Kitty enquired eagerly as I placed my hand luggage under my seat, fastening my belt as I sat down.
"He didn't show." I replied glumly, dashing his present under the seat I was at.
"Huh?! What a prick... I'm sorry, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sure he'll call me or something." I rested my head on Kitty's shoulder as she ran her fingers through my hair, comforting me. She's always been good at that kind of stuff.
"Hey, look on the bright side. We're going to Korea! Who knows, you might find a new boy who'll tickle your fancy!" She whispers with a jingle in her voice, poking my cheeks slightly. "I'll help you out -- I am a matchmaker after all."
I let out a small laugh at the little addition at the end. Maybe she was right. I was basically on a parent-free holiday with my best friend, on a plane to one of the top international schools in the world. There was no point in worrying about boys.
This was going to be the best boy-free year ever...
That's right!
