Chapter Eight

Cameron leaps into him arms and he smiles and holds her tight.

"Cameron I... I haven't seen you in forever ever..."

"I know... I've missed you..."

I stand there awkwardly, wringing my hands. Her dad looks up at me.

"Cam, is this your boyfriend?" He asks her. We both blush red.

"Dad!" She whines out of embarrassment. "No. This is my friend, James," she says calming down. I smile a little and shake his hand.

"Kurt," he says smiling. He gestures us in and we sit on the couch. "What brings you two here?" Cam's smile fades.

"Mom..." she says sadly. Kurt's face saddens.

"I know... I heard..." He puts an arm around her and holds her close. "I wish you saw her more often before she... We tried our best to make it work, your mother and I but... Sometimes love loses its spark... I'm so sorry Cameron..." He says hugging her. Cam puts her face in her dad's shoulder.

"It's okay... I understand..." she says quietly. They talk for a little while and I sit there awkwardly, looking down. After a while, they smile and pull apart.

"How's school for you two?" He asks Cam and I. Cam smiles.

"Good. I don't have to sit next to Maxwell anymore. Oh, he would have come but... You know," she points to her back gesturing to Max's wings. Kurt nods.

"Yeah. Tell him hello for me," He says. We all talked for a long time until he started asking the most awkward questions. "So you two are dating right?" He asks us smiling. "You guys are cute together." Cam and I blush super red.

"Nonononono! Dad! We're not dating! I said that already!" She yells quietly. He smirks.

"When are you going to ask her then?" He asks me in a sort of joking manner. I laugh nervously a little. Cam blushes deeper and stands up.

"Well! It's getting late, we should probably go!" She says loudly and quickly. I nod and Kurt laughs.

"Alright," he says and gives Cam a last hug and we leave.
