A few weeks have gone by. Same things, same stuff. I wake up, go to school with the twins (Max and Cameron), hang out with Cam, come home and do homework, then go to bed. Same. Same. Same.

I get up and ready and walk out and meet up with Max and Cameron.

"Hey!" I say with a grin like I do every morning. Cam barely looks up and weakly smiles a little, forced.

"Hey..." she mumbles and I notice her eyes are red a puffy from crying. Same with Max's. My smile fades.

"Wh-What happened...?" I ask softly. Cam shook her head a little and waved the question away. Max stayed silent.

"Nothing... I'll tell you later..." She sniffed and walked into the elevator with Max, both of them not saying a word and both looking down.

I didn't get another word out either of them for the rest of school. I tried my best to make Cam laugh... Even smile a little but... Nothing. I got nothing. After school she didn't grab her board, didn't talk to me. She just walked into her room and shut the door. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. I want to help.

Max open it up, his eyes a bit less red.

"Yes?" He asks his voice shaking.

"What's wrong? What happened?" I ask. He looks like he's about to burst into tears again, assuming he did already. He opens the door wider, gesturing me to come in, so I do. I look around at the neat dorm filled with video games and movies. I see Cam sitting in a chair on the balcony, hugging her knees. Probably crying... The sight makes my stomach churn.

"I've never seen her this depressed before..." Max says sadly. I look at him.

"Wh-What happened...?" I ask softly. He rubs his head. He plops down on the couch and I slowly sit down next to him.

"We found out yesterday that," his voice cracks. "Our mother's gone.." He wipes his tears and takes deep breaths, trying to keep it together. I rub his back in a comforting way. I can't even imagine the pain they must be feeling.

"Man... I'm... I don't know what to say except I'm sorry..." I respond. He nods.

"S-Sorry give me a minute...," he stands up and walks into his room rubbing his eyes. I feel really bad and sorry for them.

I stand up and slowly walk to the balcony where Cam is. She has her face in her knees, silent. I tap her shoulder slightly.

"Cam...?" I whisper and she looks up at me, her face red and streaked with tears. She wipes her face, sniffs, and puts her legs down.

"Hey..." She says softly. I sit next to her.

"You okay?" Damnit! Why did I ask that? Stupid question, stupid question. She looks away and doesn't answer. I put an arm around her petite shoulders.

"Hey, it'll be okay. I promise." She looks up at me with her watery, different colored (one blue, one green) eyes.

"B-But now my mom's gone and-and my dad's sick and-" I interrupt her.

"Your mom is in a better place and we can visit your dad if you want," I tell her.

"But what if they find me?! The humans..." She says softly, shaking.

"I'll protect you. Me and your brother both will protect you."

"But the humans will take you too!"

"They won't know if we don't use our powers," I remember that Max has huge wings. "I'm not exactly sure how Max can go but we can." She looks up at me, looking a little bit happier.

"Really? Promise we can go?" She asks me. I smile softly a little and nod. Cameron hugs me weakly, putting her chin on my shoulder. I smile softly and hug back. "Can we go now?" She asks.

"Tomorrow morning. It's a weekend," I respond. She nods and pulls away.

"So it's set then. Tomorrow morning."
