Numbness

The numbness overcomes me,

Fills me within,

Shows me a path,

Only filled with sin.

I don't want to listen,

Yet I don't want to fight,

This path calls out to me,

Everything in sight.

Leave me to my darkness,

Leave me in peace,

But you never will,

And this will never cease.

Time will fly like birds in a meadow,

But nothing will have changed,

I will always be fighting,

I will always feel drained.

And as I look out my window,

And watch the Cardinal sing,

The colors will disappear,

And I won't feel a thing.
