Chapter 10: Cultivator Conference

                  10 Months After the Mo Mansion Incident

       The night before the Cultivator Conference, Jin Guangyao's wife checks the list of things to do for the next morning's event. Sitting beside her is Jin Suyin who has also had a hand in putting the decorations together. Jin Suyin looks over the itinerary and notice a small lot time that was empty.

Jin Suyin: Sister-in-law, what happened to the time here?

Qin Su smiles: Your brother has a special announcement pertaining to you. Has he not told you of tomorrow's exciting event?

Jin Suyin stands up: No. I'll go ask him myself. (bows and exits)

      Jin Suyin finds Jin Guangyao in the study room surrounded by cases that are going to be brought up. She gently places the itinerary on the table. 

Jin Guangyao looks up from the books: A-yin, what's this?

Jin Suyin speaks calmly: Sister-in-law says you have a special announcement in the blank time about me. What is it?

Jin Guangyao puts on a cute smile: Oh, such a small thing. You are of marriage age so I am putting out an offer to find you a suitor. All the best heroes and cultivators will be there. They should all know that the Lanling Jin's beauty is available.

Jin Suyin: No- I'm not going to be married away after finally getting into the Jin Clan. 

Jin Guangyao keeps his smile on: Silly girl, it's not like that-

Jin Suyin: But it is. I just want to stay here in Carp Tower with you and sister-in-law. There is no one in a powerful clan that you can marry me to. Hanguang Jun? Jiang Zongzu?

    Jin Suyin knows that Jin Guangyao is trying to keep her away from Carp Tower since she knows his secret. Jin Guangyao knows that Jin Suyin is clever enough to make everyone believe she is a harmless soul.

Jin Guangyao shivers at the thought of marrying his little sister to Jiang Cheng: Of course not. Go rest now. I'll find you a worthy husband.

    Jin Suyin angrily exits the room though Jin Guangyao does not notice.

Jin Suyin walks far enough from the room then mutters under her breath: So you think you've won. If you won't share the Jin Clan with me then I guess I'll just have to take it all.

    She walks off into the garden with a solitary cup of tea sitting with her as she ponders on what to do in order to get out of this ordeal. Surely there is a part of Jin Guangyao that does not want her to go far far away.

    After a few hours, Jin Guangyao joins her.

Jin Guangyao: I've thought about it. I don't want you to be unhappy in your new life. Fine. You don't need to rush to wed. (Besides, what if she spills his secret over there. He needs to keep an eye on her.) 

Jin Suyin lights up: Really? Thank you so much, brother.

Jin Guangyao: But you are also not allowed to go out of Carp Tower. No one will be able to protect you.

Jin Suyin: What- Brother, not that I want to go anywhere but that sounds unreasonable. I can protect myself. I am not too bad at my martial arts.

Jin Guangyao argues back: Yes but for now, you don't have any cultivation or study about demons. What would you do if you encounter a demon?

Jin Suyin: If Lanling is not safe then it's not fair that I am here being pampered while the people get hurt. Can't I at least be in Lanling? I'll observe the people's problems for you. Can't I get a title to save the people?
