Lewis pov:
He was fighting with max for first place, his car was for once amazing. He felt like he was back in 2020, he could tell he still wasn't as fast as the red bulls but he was still able to fight with max, he just had to be super aggressive. He felt a vibration and immediately radioed it in, he was told it was nothing and that he could continue fighting. As he went into another corner he heard a bang and than everything felt like it was in slow motion as his left front tire came off and he lost control. He flew towards the barriers, his heart was in his throat as he braved himself for the impact.
He hit the barrier with a loud bang, his breath was knocked out out of him. He felt pain all over his body has he tried to breath. Finally after a minute or two he was able to draw in some air however it hurt like hell. His right side burned every time he tried to breath.
He slowly un did his restraints and carefully climbed out, the safety was quick to help him out. He waved to the crowd, he quickly decided that his ribs were fine and even tho it hurt to breath he wasn't gonna tell anyone, they were probably just bruised, they'd be better in a day or two.
He kept his helmet on so that no one could see how much pain he was in. He climbed slowly into the ambulance and sat down. There was a paramedic who immediately started asking him questions. He lied and said he was only winded and sore.
When they got to the medical centre he lied his way through their questions and tests. Finally he was released, he begged his PR officer not to make him do interviews. Eventually she agreed and he headed to his driver room, he slowly lay down on the couch, being super careful of his ribs.
He must have fallen asleep cause he woke up to a knock at the door.
"Come in." He called, he gave a small smile as a tall Brit walked in.
"Are you okay? That crashed looked horrible! I was like oh dang that must have hurt! Did it hurt? Are you hurt? They said you got released but I have to make sure." George quickly said, lewis struggled to keep up with him and his many questions, his brain was still half asleep. Normally he loved his teammates never ending energy but right now it was hard to deal with."I'm fine George, you can relax." He lied, he hated lying to people but he didn't want anyone fussing over him, he hated when people did that.
"You sure? You seem, how do I say it? Out of it?" George said, lewis rolled his eyes.
"I just woke up from a nap so that's probably why, trust me I'm fine." Lewis said, George gave him a skeptic look.
"I struggle to believe you." He said, Lewis sighed. "But I'm going to leave you alone." George added and walked out.Lewis sighed and slowly sat up, he held his sighed as he tried to breathe through the pain.
He slowly dragged himself to his feet, he gasped at the pain in his side. He slowly grabbed his stuff and made his way out of his drivers room. He was walking through the paddock heading for the exit when someone calling his name stopped him. He turned slowly to see max jogging over to me. He was still covered in confetti and champagne from the podium."Are you okay?" Max asked when he reached Lewis, Lewis gave him a curt nod.
"Yup, all good." He said, he just wanted to get back to his hotel room and go to sleep.
"You sure? That was a really hard hit." Max said, his voice laced with concern.
"Trust me I'm fine." Lewis said, max nodded and Lewis felt him watching him closely has Lewis walked away.He was so lost in his thoughts he didn't notice someone approach him till they tapped his shoulder. He snapped his head up and saw Sebastian in front of him. He had missed Seb so much since he retired, he had forgotten he was coming to the track today.
"How are you?" Seb asked as he pulled Lewis into a hug, it took everything in Lewis not to scream from the pain. Instead he tensed up and bit his lip.
"Good." He said in a strained voice, pulling away from Seb. He tried to act like he was fine but Seb was the one person who knew him well enough to see right through him.
"What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Seb quickly asked, Lewis sighed, there was definitely a reason everyone called him the griddad."I'm fine." Lewis said slightly annoyed at how many people had asked him that today. He turned and continued walking.
"No your not, what's wrong?" Seb asked, following him.
"I'm fine, why do people keep asking me this?" He asked frustrated.
"Maybe because you just had one of the worst crashes of the year, and maybe because you look like crap." Seb said, Lewis glared at him,
"Thanks I appreciate it." He said sarcastically,
"Okay don't get mad at the fact that people are concerned for you." Seb said, he grabbed Lewis's hand and tried to stop him, but Lewis pulled his hand away and kept walking.
"It's nice to see, it really is. However I'm tired and sore and would love to go to sleep." Lewis said.
"I understand however, I don't believe that your 'fine' so I'm going to come with you." She said,
"No your not." Lewis argued,
"Yes I am."
"No, you are not."
"Shut up I'm coming with you." Seb said in a voice that made lewis realize that there was no point in arguing with the stubborn German. When they got to the hotel, Seb followed Lewis up to his room. Lewis dropped his stuff by the door and grabbed some comfier clothes and went into the bathroom to change. In the bathroom, he took his shirt off super slowly. He let a small groan at the pain, he studied his ribs in the mirror. They were covered in nasty looking bruises. His chest ached and every breath he took hurt. He slipped his more comfortable shirt on and made his way out of the bathroom.
Seb was sitting in a chair waiting for him. Lewis walked over to the bed and sat down. He tried to make it look like he was fine so he sat down normally. But his ribs protested, and he groaned in pain, his hand immediately grabbed his side. He closed his eyes and waited for the pain to lessen. He heard seb jump to his feet and rush over, he felt seb crouch in front of him.
"What's wrong? I knew it, is it your side?" Seb asked, Lewis didn't answer him, he honestly didn't know if he could. Everything hurt so bad, breathing was a chore, each breath felt like someone was stabbing him in the side.
Seb realized he wasn't gonna get an answer and carefully removed Lewis's hand from his side. He gently lifted Lewis's shirt and Lewis heard him gasp as he saw the bruises.Lewis slowly leaned forward till his head was on Sebs shoulder. Finally giving into the fact that he was hurt and needed help he whispered, "seb it hurts so bad."
Seb gently rubbed his leg, "I know, I know, you are one strong, stubborn man." Lewis felt the tears starting to fall from his eyes. "Lewis you need to go get this looked at, it looks broken." Seb gently said. Lewis groaned, but gave a small nod.Seb pov:
Seb gently stood up and helped Lewis to his feet, he couldn't believe how long Lewis had been able to pretend like nothing was wrong. He led lewis slowly out of the room and into the elevator, than out of the hotel.
I sat next to him the entire time we were in the hospital, only leaving his side when he had
X-rays done. I wasn't surprised at all when the doctor said he had broken ribs. Lewis would be out for a couple races.A/n:
