Chapter 4

Sage's Pov

I woke up with my head pounding. It hurt so badly. I slowly sat up trying to ease my headache. Pain soared my body and I still felt drained.

It was still night and I realized I wasn't in my dorm and I wasn't on Star Land. I reached for my necklace and realized it was gone!

"Oh my stars! My necklace!" I whispered loudly and frantically looked around to find my necklace.

Then I heard someone walking and I whirled around and saw a man near the entrance of the weird thing.

"Hello, I see you're awake. How do you feel?" The man asked me kindly. He held some weird white thing in a metal stick.

"I'm okay?" He was so suspicious but oddly kind-hearted. But did he have my necklace?

"I'm glad. I see you're looking for something?" He said placing the stuff down. I felt so weak and I ended up falling to the floor.

"Hey kiddo no need to rush. Have a seat the others should be here soon." He said as he helped me sit down.

"Where am I?" I asked looking around. It was small and not that much. "It's called a camper or a trailer. But this beauty is called The Rust Bucket."

"The Rust Bucket?"

"Yes, The Rust Bucket."

"This isn't a bucket. And there is no rust?"

"Look outside and you will get it."

I stood up and carefully walked outside. I saw a little rust but where did the bucket part come from?

The old man came out with the metal sticks and the white stuff. Then he went to what I think is called a fire. If I remembered properly.

"Want to roast some marshmallows?" He asked as he put the marshmallow over the fire.

"Uh. Sure." I walked over and sat across from him and he handed me one of the metal sticks.

"So what's your name?"

"Sage."

"You got a last name?"

"No. Where I come from we don't have late names or middle names."

"Oh. Well, I'm Max Tennyson."

He lifted the marshmallow and blew the fire off and placed it on a cracker with chocolate and then another cracker on top.

"So what are you?" He asked as he took a bite.

"I am from a planet called Star Land. And where I come from we are called Starlings."

"That's intriguing. Why are you here on earth?"

"I was sent down here to stay and bring back positive energy to protect my home."

"I see. Well, I hope your journey goes well."

"Thanks."

"Care for a s'more?"

"A s'more?"

"Yeah. You roast a marsh-"

"Ah!"

I screamed as the marshmallow caught fire and busted into flames. Max and I panicked. The fire was too big for him to blow out.

I threw the stick and it fell onto a patch of grass and it lit up quickly.

"Come on!" Max yelled and pulled me towards the Rust Bucket.

Ben's Pov

In the distance, we heard screaming and smelled fire. We started running towards the source of the sound and I realized that it was coming from the campsite!

"Grandpa." I said it myself as we reached the location. Fire was roaring and blazing. It was crawling toward the Rust Bucket. Explosions of wood went flying towards the camper but something kept repelling them.

I turned into Water Hazard and blasted the fire with water. After the smoke cleared I saw Grandpa Max and Sage. I realized she was using magic to shield them and repel the burning pieces of wood.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked after she dropped the force field. She looked upset a little bit. Like sad almost.

"Hey kiddo it's okay. We all make mistakes." Grandpa said putting a hand on her shoulders.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"I accidentally set the grass on fire and it was caused by a marshmallow that was on fire."

"Well, that's not the first time the forest was put on fire." Gwen said leaning on my shoulder.

"Alright we get it but at least it wasn't my fault." I said frowning at her.

"Well Sage how do you feel?" Gwen asked.

Her eyes were so pretty. They were a bright and dark purple mixture. She was so cute.

"I'm okay. But how do you guys know my name?" She looked at Gwen confused and somewhat frightened.

"We met a lady on this device and she said your name and why your here and that we need to protect you." Gwen said showing her the star-shaped device I found in the ship.

"My Starzap!"

"Star what?" She seemed so relieved to see the device.

"It's called a Starzap that's how us Starlings communicate." She said.

"Is this yours too?" Rook asked as he lifted a pendant.

"Yes! That's my wish pendant!" Sage immediately ran up to him and took the necklace.

"Oh my stars thank you so much!" She hugged Rook, and Gwen. She didn't even hug me and I saved her!

"Eh, what about me? I saved you. Twice to be exact. From the crash and drowning and from roasting like a marshmallow." I said crossing my arms.

"Oh sorry." Sage then hugged me and I was literally about to pee myself. That's how surprised I was!

I turned back into myself and hugged her back.

Gwen gave me the "you like her" look and I rolled my eyes.

"Well let's hit the sack." Grandpa Max said yawned and walked into the Rust Bucket.

"Hit the sack?"

"He means let's go to sleep." I said letting her go.

"Oh."
