When I went to my room I angrily threw a glass bottle across the room in anger, the shatter was satisfying to my heartbroken rage. I leaned against my bedroom door sliding down to sit on the floor, hugging my knees. I stared off at the wall ahead of me until Evelyn knocked on my bedroom door. "Hey Em, are you going to Steve's party tonight? Everyone will be there." Evelyn asked through the door, "No...leave me alone," I said still very upset, "Hey...look you need to clear your mind, so you're going to the party, even if I have to drag you. Now get ready." Evelyn scolded, I chuckled a bit appreciating her concern. I got up and started getting ready.

I grabbed a red dress from my closet, I put it on, throwing my black leather jacket over it to complete the outfit. Thus began the process of getting ready, I put on tights and then some fishnets over them. They paired nicely with my black leather boots. I then went over to my mirror and started to do my hair and makeup. By the time I was done, I looked hot as hell, which really helped me take my mind off the pain I was feeling inside. I dabbed on my favorite perfume then walked out to go wait for Evelyn in the car. Evelyn ended up changing her dress four times before we left, but when we eventually did arrive at the party the place was bustling.

"There's a lot of people here," Eddie said from my backseat, "No kidding..." I said, staring at the house, "This is going to be fun!" Evelyn said, getting out of the car. Eddie and I both just looked at each other before gathering up the courage to head in. When inside there was already commotion in the backyard. Curiously I went to go see what was going on, and my heart dropped when I saw Billy doing a keg stand, "Ugh, it's like he's everywhere." I said to myself glaring at him when he finally was back on the ground, I just rolled my eyes as he cheered, "And here we see the wild jackass in his natural environment," Eddie whispers to me, I held back a laugh, elbowing him playfully in the chest, "Stop, that's not funny." I said, still holding back my laughter, "Emma, I can see you smiling, and we both know that was hilarious." Eddie laughs walking off to go do God knows what. "Thought he'd never leave," I heard a male voice say, I turned my attention to the person speaking to me. However, upon seeing it was Billy, I shot him a cold death glare before turning to go back inside. "Oh come on Emma, what is this about the hallway earlier?" Billy asked, "So you do recognize me." I said coldly as I walked to the punch bowl and got myself a drink. "Is that what this is-" I cut him off, "Meaning you probably recognized my brothers when you almost ran them over." I turned looking up at him.

"Oh, you're mad about the car thing? It was a harmless-" I cut him off again, "Harmless?!" I snapped, "My brother could've been injured! He could've broken his arm, or worse he could've died!" I said angrily. "Oh come on, it's not that serious, there's no need to be a bitch about it," Billy said brushing it off, I couldn't take it so I threw my drink in his face. "Have a nice life Hargrove, because as of right now I'm no longer in it," I said before walking away. With that I tried to walk away angrily, "Wait, it was just a joke." Billy defends, "Tell it to your dad, he'd be the only one to find it funny." I said, not meaning it. I was just angry and I wanted to hurt him like he did me, and judging by his reaction I succeeded. "Fuck you, Emma!" Billy shouted, angrily. I went back to my car and waited the rest of the night there for Eddie and Evelyn. Finally, they both got in the car, and I dropped Eddie off at his place before heading home.

When I got back to my room I took off my makeup and changed into some comfortable pajamas. I then lay in bed letting my mind relax for the first time that day, and finally, the pain and heartbreak caught up to me as I cried myself to sleep that night. I felt like my entire world had collapsed, but I felt like I failed him. I felt at fault, if I had never left he'd never be like this. He'd be the same Billy Hargrove I met on the beach, but I had to face the reality now that the Billy I once knew is gone. With that knowledge I fell asleep, only to wake up to the annoying alarm clock demanding my mundane routine.

The day went by like normal until history class rolled around. "Okay last class where you have to see him." I whispered to myself, "Alright for the next two weeks of class, we're going to be working as partners to cover people from this unit. Since we now have an even number of students in this class, I can pair you up in groups of two, and whoever you're paired up with will be your partner for the rest of the school year." The teacher smiled looking down at her list, naming off students that were being paired up. Then she reached my name, "Emmalyn Beckett, you're partnered with Billy, Billy take the empty seat beside Emma." The teacher said before going back to listing off people. "Well...shit," I said to myself under my breath.
