It felt like a wave was crashing into me as wind whistled and roared through my hair, the voilet-blue colour swallowing me whole as all I could do was squeeze my eyes shut.
What is even happening right now?! I just assumed this weird hole in the sky was a portal, and now I'm in it. What was I thinking?! Well, correction, I wasn't!

Hot tears beaded in the corners of my eyes as I brought my hands to my ears in hopes of drowning the noise out. It felt like everything around me was a bright void as my body was thrown left, right, and centre.

The colours around me began to fade into dark blue as the void started to slowly gain back gravity, my body suddenly starting to gain weight as within a blink of an eye I was sent flying onto pavement.

I screamed, desperately clawing at air in hopes for a building or ledge to grab onto only to fall even faster. As I plummeted, I looked down to see a massive garbage bin and felt a sense of relief. Sure, it's gross, but at least it means I won't die. I continued screaming nevertheless, only to be cut off as the loud crash of my landing in the dumpster winded me. I gasped for air, trying to ignore the rotting food smell and the thought of rats possibly being in here with me.
I laid on the rubbish bags for what felt like an hour, just trying to think about what was really happening right now.
As I finally gained back my breath, I started to sit upright, peeking my head out of the bin.
It was night time, I knew that much.

I slowly started to crawl out of the dumpster, my bag now covered in grease, still slung over my shoulders. The sound of me landing as I manoeuvred my way out of the dumpster echoed throughout the empty street, sending a shiver down my spine.
"HEY!"
A loud voice boomed toward me as I jumped, turning around ready to defend myself only to see that it was just a group of boys around my age coming closer to me.
That's even worse than some masked killer.

"Bro were you in the fucking dumpster?" One of the boys laughed, squinting at me through the dark.
I opened my mouth to reply but immediately got cut off, "I haven't seen you before, are you new... dumpster lady?"
This earned a huge eruption of laughter out of all of the boys except one. One boy didn't laugh. He just stood there and kind of looked at me worriedly. He was the next one to talk.
"Are you ok?"
I'd never heard words so sincere in my life, I frowned at him. Why isn't he just making fun of me?

"Hey Miles, I get she's sorta cute, but come on! Already tryna rizz some girl up?! She could be homeless...or worse..." the same boy who called me dumpster lady began, "I bet she has fucking rabies or something"

Although everyone laughed the one boy who was being nice to me went on, "Guys leave her alone, what if she's in trouble?"
This suddenly made the whole group go quiet as they all turned to collectively look at me.
I shifted uncomfortably as they all blinked at me but couldn't help bit smile a bit.

They all look so stupid.

One of the boys who hadn't spoken yet started to speak," Since Miles wants to be a gentleman or whatever, are you ok? Or are you just sleeping in there? Or were you perhaps tryna get our attention... are you a slag?"
"Jesus christ, can you just shut up for once? How the fuck is she a slag for being in a dumpster? Just leave her alone," the boy who everyone was calling Miles spoke up again.
I narrowed my eyes subconsciously. Why is he defending me so much.

He suddenly turned to completely face me, "Do you have anyone you can call? My mobile data is really low right now, but you can use the last of it, I'm just saying that cause like...the connection...quality..not trying to make you feel bad if you use it though obhviously like I'm the one who offered." Miles laughs in spite of himself as his friends jeered behind him.

"YOU FUCKING SUCK AT RIZZ!" The boys chanted behind him as he just awkwardly chuckled whiles mouthing the word sorry.
He passed his phone to me, the glowing key pad illuminating my face as I felt myself being stared at again. I cleared my throat and quickly looked up to see them all gawking at me. God, this is terrifying.
"Are you gonna call someone..?" Miles asked more concerned than anything.

I bit my lip, trying to hold back my tears. Who would I even call. I don't know anyone here. I don't even know where I am anymore.

"Umm....where am I..?" I asked, my voice scratchy and dry as the boys began to laugh at me.

"YOU'RE IN BROOKLYN! YO ARE YOU ACTUALLY HIGH OR SOMETHING!"

I felt pathetic tears start to form in my eyes as I turned my head away. Why is this happening to me? I sniffled as the boys kept throwing playful insults at me. Even if it was probably their stupid way of flirting, it still felt like salt in the wound. It went on for what felt like an hour before one of the boys finally said something different.

"Ok bro, I have to go home,"
"Oh yeah, same."
"I'll walk with you guys,"
"Miles, you coming?"

Miles was still staring at me, although I'd given his phone back at this point.
"Yeah, I'll catch up later."
The boys snickered, and wolf whistled as they walked away into the night.

After a couple minutes of silence, Miles finally spoke.

"Umm... my dad works with the police.. like you know he's a police officer.." He said in a cautious tone but continued anyway, "I'm sorry, I'm really bad at talking to people but just checking like....why were you in a dumpster..?"
I looked up at him and couldn't help but awkwardly laugh, "Umm...well, like I fell from the sky."
"Right....."
