Reader discretion advised.Harper fastened her last heel strap and grabbed her clutch purse before heading out the door. Letitia was not too far behind. She wore a navy blue pants suit with black boots. The diamond encrusted necklace that sat on her collarbone perfectly, glistened and demanded attention. Harper continued to eye Letitia, soaking up how amazing she looked. Damn she didn't even have to try. They walked through the hotel lobby and entered the SUV that awaited them. "So this club you suggested we go to---how did you find out about it?" Harper asked. She really wasn't a huge fan of nightclubs but every now and then she remembered life was short and to learn to try and enjoy herself. "My sister, Dominique. She's actually going to be meeting us there." Harper stiffened at that small revelation. "Wait. What?" Harper felt those butterflies roam wild again. Was she ready for this? Meeting someone who Letitia considered a sister was a big deal. How would she take to her? Would she think she was just some groupie Letitia was toting around? Well, so much for cutting up and letting loose. She probably wasn't going to do that anyways but now she felt as if she had to be on her best behavior, no matter what. As if Letitia could read her mind she smiled and let out a throaty laugh. "Harper, relax. Dom is a great person. You're going to like her, everyone does. And she's going to like you too. You said we needed to drink so that's what I intend to do---with you---and Dom." Letitia grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers together as the driver continued down the congested L.A. streets. Harper didn't say another word. Her mind raced with a million different worst case scenarios as they got closer and closer to their destination. She was sure Letitia was right about Dominique being a good person but that didn't make her feel any less nervous. As great of a person as she would be, they were still from different worlds. God, why do I feel so out of my league. She stared out the window as she listened to Letitia hum whatever song was playing on the car stereo. The SUV pulled up into a dark alleyway before coming to a complete stop. Harper scanned the area not being able to make out exactly where they were. It was pitch black outside and the blacked out SUV windows did not help. They made everything in sight look eerie. "Um, Tish?" She questioned, the worry in her voice was prominent. "It's the back of the club. If I were to walk into the front---well, you know." Harper rolled her eyes playfully, she kept forgetting who she was rolling with and how different simple things like going out would be. Mainly because when she was with Letitia she didn't see some big movie star---she just saw her. She stepped out of the truck and fixed her outfit before following Letitia. A tall man in all black who appeared out of nowhere escorted them both inside. It was obvious he was working for Letitia as she gave him a head nod and entered the club. Letitia walked through all the other party goers, hastily making her way towards the VIP section. Harper tried her best to keep up, instantly regretting her heel decision she had made. She got bumped three times by intoxicated women and men dancing on the club floor. Now I remember why I don't do the club scene. Finally she had made it to the section where people with the most money resided. She carefully walked up two steps and entered the velvet ropes. It was all so new to her. She couldn't remember the last time she was at a club sitting in VIP and receiving bottle service. Oh right, that's because it had never happened. She was a fish out of water. Act like you belong here, even if you feel you don't. Harper sat at the edge of one of the many suede couches that encapsulated the single glass table that sat in the middle of the floor. The purple fluorescent lights illuminated the wall and club sign that was above her which read "Oasis". She watched as Letitia greeted every individual that also occupied the space. She counted at least fifteen not including herself. There was no sign of Dominique, part of her felt relieved. She enjoyed watching Letitia in the wild. She laughed to herself before a random man approached her, taking her attention away from the woman she couldn't stop admiring. "Your cup is empty. Let me get you a drink." The stranger offered. There was a bit of hesitation but what was the point in being here if she wasn't going to enjoy herself. Letitia surely was. Hell, in a matter of seconds she had basically forgotten all about her. Harper nodded and smiled at the man before letting him fill her cup with a spirit. She watched intently as he poured, she knew better than to take her eyes off her cup. "All yours, love." He said, handing her the cup. "Thank you." He nodded before taking a seat next to her. "Alright. So you look completely out of your element here. You damn sure don't look like you party outside of home. How'd you end up here?" He asked.
Harper frowned.
"You figured all that out just by pouring me a drink? Damn. I better work on my appearance."
He laughed.
"Nah, not at all. I figured it all out because first of all you're sitting at the edge of your seat like some shit about to pop off and you need to make sure you first up out of this bitch when it does---looking extremely uncomfortable." They both shared a laugh that time. "Secondly---I'd remember a pretty face like yours. I'm in here enough."
