Chapter 2: The Most Important People

I open my eyes and see the roof. To my right, I had my beautiful wife resting on my arm after having some private time last night.

"What time is it?"

As I look over, I find that there was still an hour before the alarm was supposed to kick in.

"I got maybe.. 4 hours of sleep?"

I gently remove my arm off of Ariel's head and make my way to the kitchen where I start preparing some coffee.

I yawn from feeling fairly tired but knew that if I went back to sleep, I wouldn't get up again for work.

I go over to the stove and take out a pan to make some eggs for breakfast.

Y/n: "*yawn* I hope Ariel brought some bacon"

I open the fridge door and surely enough..

Y/n: "Eggs, Bacon. Lord have mercy, thank you"

I bring them out while going over to take out some more items to make pancakes for the two sleeping girls.

Y/n: "Alright, time to whip up a tasty breakfast. Huzzah!!"

An hour later, the two woke up and came to the kitchen to find the lights on.

Ariel: "Honey?"

I was already sitting down and munching on what I had prepared. Also on the table, I had prepared their meals knowing that would wake up around this time.

Y/n: "I made some food"

The two took their seat and began eating as I read some articles on my phone.

Y/n: "Apparently we should be getting some pretty heavy rain today"

Yoshiko: "Should I bring an umbrella then?"

Ariel: "Make sure to wear a jacket too"

Y/n: "I'll make sure to take one as well. Ariel, Old Man Shen said he was coming over to check on the spare room's lightining later today"

Ariel: "I'll make sure to make time for that. I'm still planning on going to the church nearby to help the orphanage"

Y/n: "How are the little ones doing?"

Ariel: "They all view me like a mother"

She giggled a bit as it brought a smile to my face.

Y/n: "Then I suppose that makes me their father~?"

Yoshiko: "You do realize that I still exist in your lives, right?"

Y/n: "Is somebody jealous~?"

Ariel: "Aw, come on sweetie. You know we love you more than anything~!!"

Yoshiko: "OKAY, I TAKE IT BACK!!"

We continue enjoying our lunch and small talk before we go our separate ways. Ariel did the dishes, I got ready for work and Yoshiko got ready for school.

Y/n: "I'm hoping for a less stressful day today. If I have to reorder all of that idiot Tobi's files again, I swear I'm going to pull the hairs right out of his scalp"

I was having troubles with my tie again so I went to Ariel so she could help me out with it, but I saw something odd.

Y/n: "Hm?"

Yoshiko seemed to be troubled by something while speaking to her mother. Ariel gave her a hug while whispering some words into her ear.

Y/n: "Everything okay?"
