Chapter 3: Early Bird

After an exhausting day in the office, I finally get a chance to breathe for once. I look at the clock and see that I'm surprisingly early.

Y/n: "I wonder if I can go home early?"

I glaze back to Miss Miko's office and notice that she too was stretching like she had finished.

Y/n: "Nothing gained from not asking"

I get up from my chair and check to see that everyone was on track to finish early as well. Surely enough, my colleagues were all responsible and determined to get some extra hours of sleep.

I walk over to the boss' office and give the door a knock.

Chitanda: "Come in"

I open the door and head inside to see a smiling Miss Miko.

Y/n: "How's it going Boss Lady?"

Chitanda: "You have my approval"

Y/n: "Didn't even ask yet"

Chitanda: "Sorry, sorry. *sighs* It feels good to be able to finish early you know? I'm sure the higher ups are quite delighted with our work, although they might just give us more work in the future due to our speed?"

Y/n: "All the more reason to be even faster"

We both laugh amongst each other as she turns her computer off and gathers her stuff.

Y/n: "Ready to make the announcement?"

Chitanda: "You already know it!!"

She speed walks to my side and I follow after her lead.

Chitanda: "*clears throat* Everyone, I'd like your attention please"

The team looks over to their leader as I stand beside her, knowing everyone was ready for the news they knew was coming.

Chitanda: "Get ready to work overtime"

Team: "WHAT?!"

Chitanda: "I'm just messing you guys. TIME TO GO HOME EARLY!!!"

Team: "HELL YEAH!!!"

They all celebrate with one another as I go over to my desk in order to pack up.

Chitanda: "Thank you all for your hard work recently. Well then, if you have already-"

The team began to move over to the elevator as she stood their in disbelief.

Chitanda: "THE BELL DOESN'T DISMISS YOU, I DO!!"

They all halt and turn back to the boss lady.

Chitanda: "... You're dismissed"

Like a bunch of roaches, they all scatter and escape before anything pops up.

Y/n: "I swear, these youngins now a days sure love to not be at work"

Chitanda: "Do you?"

Y/n: "No, but besides my home, I find the most comfort here for whatever reason"

Chitanda: "Maybe you just love your colleagues that much?"

Y/n: "Possibly. Anyways, will you be heading off home too?"

Chitanda: "Yeah, just got to talk with the bosses about our progress and all of the stuff we've submitted. I'm sure they'll be grumpy because we finished fast because you know, old people get angry about anything"

Y/n: "You have a point. I got angry with the coffee brewer before because it wasn't pouring fast enough"

Chitanda: "You are not that old Mr. L/n"
