Chapter 4: Odd Day

*Alarm*

I could hear it ringing but I knew I didn't want to click it.

Ariel: "Honeeey.. the alarm"

Y/n: "Urgh, take me back to the days before I was an adult"

I press the snooze button and sluggishly begin to get up.

Y/n: "*sighs* Hey babe, it's time to get up"

Ariel: "I don't want to"

She throws herself into the pillow while complaining into it.

Y/n: "I don't want to either but it's what we have to do"

Ariel: "Mnn, I hate it"

I give her a smack in the ass as I head to the bathroom to wash my face.

Y/n: "You still need to go wake up Yoshiko. Don't forget"

Ariel: "*sighs* Fiiine"

She gets up and walks out of the room almost zombie like. After refreshing myself, I come out to the living room and find Ariel cooking breakfast.

Y/n: "Did you wake Yoshiko up?"

She paused momentarily and turned to me with a nervous expression.

Y/n: "Really?.. Urgh, I'll do it"

Ariel: "I'll have breakfast ready by then"

Y/n: "Smells good"

I go over to my daughter's room and knock on the door.

Y/n: "Yoshiko. Honey, it's time for school"

I didn't hear anything coming from inside so I decided to knock again.

Y/n: "Yoshiko?.."

The same deafening silence was returned once more as I decided to walk in.

Y/n: "Yoshi-"

I found the room empty so I decided to check on the other bathroom incase she was showering.

Y/n: "Yoshiko?"

I knocked on the door and was met with the same response as before. I went in and found nothing either.

I was worried so I quickly went to the kitchen when I looked out to see her outside.

Y/n: "*sighs* What is this little girl doing so early in the morning?!"

I march to the back door but stop as I observe quietly.

Yoshiko: "Hup!! HYAH!!"

I could see that she was working out or something. She had a long pipe in her hand and was swinging it around with precision.

Y/n: "I knew she was good at sports and all, but those don't look like fencing moves"

I continued watching her move graciously without wasting any energy on any of her attacks.

Yoshiko: "HA!!"

She finally stopped and wiped the sweat off of her forehead.

Yoshiko: "Have I improved?"

She asked a question to herself which got a chuckle out of me.

"Always going hard on yourself? You did amazing Yoshiko"

I was ready to go outside and praise her but I stopped upon hearing her talk again.

Yoshiko: "You're right. I feel great but I can always do better... I will continue to train until you find me worth"
