Carolina POV

I felt MaryAnn's arms tight around me and she was shhhing me and trying to soothe me when I felt like I should be the one soothing her.

When we pulled back from the embrace, she said, "Let's go sit." We both still had tears running down, sat down in two chairs beside each other.

MaryAnn looked at me and squeezed my hand, "Were you there?"

I nodded and my mind flashed to bull stepping on Cope, and I felt another wave of tears.

She rubbed my back, "If I know one thing about my son 'Lina, he's a fighter. If anyone can recover from this, it's him."

I wanted to agree, but she didn't see how lifeless Cope looked an hour ago lying on the dirt of the arena.

I noticed MaryAnn start to look around and catch sight of Rhett and Lukas. They both walked over, "Hi ma'am I'm Lukas."

MaryAnn gave a small smile, and said, "I'm glad to finally meet the one my son has been ramblin' about, I do wish it was on better circumstances, but it's nice to meet you Lukas."

Lukas nodded.

"Hi I'm Rhett" Rhett said while shaking her hand.

She responded, "MaryAnn."

Even after Rhett's pep talk I couldn't help feel the guilt that started to pile in my stomach again, while looking at MaryAnn. I never want to be the reason that someone has to watch their son be in so much pain.

We all took a seat in the waiting area, silence hung in the air, as we all waited for any news of Cope. I decided it wouldn't hurt to bow my head and give a silent prayer to God hoping for Cope to come out of this stronger than ever. I've been going to church long enough to know that God doesn't just give you what you pray for and that He has own plan, but I just hope that in that plan, Cope is alive and well with me.

After about a restless half hour of all of us sitting and being lost in our own thoughts, Lukas stood up and started pacing back and forth. I glanced up from where my eyes had been rested on the floor and just watched him walk back and forth, moving his hands from his pockets, to rubbing the back of his neck to holding both his hands behind his head. I sat there just watching him, and thought back to what he had told me earlier that summer of how he wasn't afraid of bull riding and that he was born for it, and if he died doing it he would be content because he absolutely loved it.

I decided to stand and stretch my arms and legs after my back and legs started to feel the lacking of cushion the hospital waiting room chairs had. Rhett looked up noticing Lukas and I both standing and decided to break our silent streak, "Why don't you two go on a walk, I'll stay with MaryAnn and if we hear anything we'll call you guys?"

Lukas and I both peered at one another, I could tell he was having the same inside wager with himself that I was. I didn't want to miss second of news, but also was starting to feel the stir craziness starting that was already very present in Lukas.

I spoke first looking at MaryAnn, "I'm not sure, that's a good idea."

Lukas stopped pacing and with his right hand rubbed the back of his neck, "Yeah, I don't want to be too far if we hear anything."

MaryAnn's mouth tilted up a bit in a soft sad smile and responded, "You two could just take a lap around the hospital, you wouldn't be far at all. I think it might be good for both of you."

Lukas and my eyes connected once again. Lukas raised an eyebrow slightly asking for me to make the decision. I let out a deep breath and answered, "Yeah, that might not be a bad idea, but if ya'll hear anything call us."

Rhett held up his hands in defense and said, "Promise."
