"So how are we doing it?" I ask him, furrowing my brows.

"I'll arange an emergency meeting with my business partners for later. We'll meet at the same restaurant we were in the last time. It's a safe deal."

"We?" I ask.

He nodds. "Yes. It'd be better if you came with me. You should give them the documents and explain it all to them. I'm still their rival, I'm not as convincing as the mad wife who wants revenge. You think you can do that?" He eyes me, searching for doubts.

"Absolutely. I can do that. I think it's better this way, anyway. At last I too want to know how y'all are going to handle the problem and what you're going to do to Luigi. I need to prepare myself for any eventuality."

"Fine then. But be prepared for today. Those men aren't exactly kind people. They'll test you and if there's even a hint of weakness, they'll swallow you whole."

With a firm expression I nod. I know exactly what I'm getting myself into and I won't back down now. I've endured to much already.

Now •

This evening, I reek of confidence. I'm wearing my platform Versace heels, an expensive dress with a corset belt and my classy Chanel bag. All black, all ready to serve.

I did my hair and make up and I was feeling myself to the fullest. It's true when they say if you look good you feel on top of the world.

Everything is somehow better this evening.
The cool air, the slight wind, the colors around me. Is there an opposite of the lovey dovey, rose-tinted glasses? There has to be, because I'm currently experiencing it for sure. It's just as good, but without the annoying feelings of blind love.

As I'm walking over the carpet in front of the restaurant, I take a last deep breath in and out before I enter the building.

As soon as I'm inside I discover Avan and some familiar faces sitting at the same table we had the last time. I walk up to them confidently even though all eyes were on me, analyzing every tiny movement, probably waiting for me to make a mistake or to get scared.

I won't do them that favor.

Instead I flash them a little smile and take a seat next to Avan, who got up first to help me with my chair.

"Good evening, gentlemen." I greet them, meeting their eyes one at a time while nodding along the process.

"Good evening to you too, Mrs. Romano. I must say I was a little surprised to hear about you wanting to meet again." One of the men begins.

I look at Avan for a second but chose to speak instead. It was directed at me so why wouldn't I answer? Luigi isn't here to bring me down or make me shut my mouth.

"Well, yes. I have information about my husband concerning his business and your contracts. I don't know how much Mr. Kobayashi told you already, but it was important enough for me to keep you away from your families a little longer, gentlemen. Although I'm sorry, considering you were in need of a break, I'll make it up to you."

Taking my bag and opening it up, I search for the documents and pull them out for the men to see.

I hold it out to them and an older man across from me takes it. The three other men look at the document, but make no move to take it for themselves. Presumably out of respect for the oldest member of the group.

Avan starts to talk for the first time since I arrived: "On page three you can see some interesting expenses from Mister Romano, clearly overstepping the amount originally intended from our contract. The delivery which was supposedly lost, seems to have earned him more than twice it's actual worth. He probably stretched the goods so that he could make profit behind our backs. He lied to us in more than one concern."

The oldest of them sighs while the others look like my husband now has a problem. A big problem.

"I see. We'll have to work a little more now, I'm afraid, gentlemen." The oldest says.

"How do you want to proceed?" I ask. "You should know that it's in my interest to get rid of my husband. I don't plan to go against whatever you plan to do to him."

"We'll prepare everything, then pay Mr. Romano a visit and... remind him of our code. As soon as possible. That would be tomorrow evening if everything goes to plan." One of the younger men says.

I nod again. "Where?"

"Probably at work. Don't worry, Mrs. Romano. You don't need to cook dinner tomorrow. Don't wait for him."

I raise my brows. "I see. Well then, gentlemen. Great to do business with you." My smile is honest and I already feel a little relieved.

I take a sip from the wine in front of me.

"So, Mr. Kobayashi. Who is going to take over the business? I suppose you have great interest in taking over... I'm sure you'll buy the main legal company as soon as possible, no?" The third man asks him.

"Let's not talk about that now. That's all in the future, no?" He answers, avoiding the questions with a sly little smirk.

His adversary only huffs and downs his drink. A little distaste crossing his features.

Interesting.

The evening continues and soon the men dissapear one after the other, excusing themselves to start the preparations for tomorrow.

Now it was only Avan and me.

"I'll go get myself another drink," I smile and get up from my seat.

He humms in approval and lets his gaze travel up and down my figure.

On my way to the bar I sway my hips, walking extra slow. Right as I receive my drink I see someone oddly familiar in my peripheral.

I turn my head and end up freezing by the sight. They can't see me, but I certainly can make out who just entered the restaurant.

Luigi and his affair.
