Chapter One

Magic stayed close to Gracie's side as the group ventured into this weird distorted part of the maze.

Bek was in the lead holding the shimmering blue sword in case one of the greivers attacked. Magic tried not to listen to the thumping of her heart, and tried to instead focus on moving forward.

Suddenly a portal appeared in front of the group and Bek leapt back with a startled yelp.

"What the-" Soup cut off seemingly unable to find the words to describe what they were witnessing, "maybe it's a way out?" Spidey asked looking hopeful, "or a way to kill us" Krow interjected.

"Only one way to find out though" Soup said walking up to the portal and jumping in without any hesitation.

"Soup!" Magic shouted, "welp she's dead" Krow commented and Gracie glared at the demon who raised its one hand in mock surrender. "We have to go after her!" Magic pleaded, "and risk possibly dying as well? No thank you" Krow countered, "that's enough you two, we're going to follow Soup" Bek intervened and Magic smiled softly at her.

Krow rolled his eyes but said nothing.

Walking up to the portal Magic took a deep breath before jumping in.

Magic suddenly found herself falling faster and faster with nothing she could do to stop her descent. She flailed desperately but in vain.

Magic screamed hoping that someone could hear her before. "Hello? Hello!?" Magic woke up on hard wood floors that seemed unusually big. "Oh good you're up" a voice said relieved, Magic turned to see a rodent like woman kneeling over her.

"W-who are you?" Magic asked backing up in a terrified manner, "I'm Eloise or El for short, who are you?"

"I-I-I'm Magic"

"Magic... that's an odd name"

"Well y-you're very odd looking"

"I am? I thought I looked completely normal for a rat"

"A rat!?"

Magic jumped while Eloise just tilted her head in confusion, "yes a rat, that is me. Do you not know what they look like?"

Magic's whole body was shaking, "I-I've seen rats before a-and they've looked nothing like you!" "Well not all rats look the same, anyway what even are you?"

Eloise looked at her curiously as if trying to decide whether or not Magic was a threat.

"I-I'm a human" Magic stuttered out making  Eloise jump.

"A human!?"

"Y-yeah"

"I've never seen a human so small before"

"Well I've never seen a rat so big... and human-like" Magic muttered the last part of the sentence so that Eloise hopefully wouldn't hear.

"El! El! El!" A voice shouted and Magic turned to see a grey skinned rat wearing a green jacket with a leaf over their head running at the two of them.

"What is it Olive?"

"There's an intruder! An intruder in the attic! And it's trying to kill Owen!"

Magic stiffened at the name Olive had just said. While she knew Owen was a very common name to have it still gave her shivers the thought of him being alive.

Well that and a lot of other emotions, but now wasn't the time.

"Let's go Magic" Eloise said grabbing Magic's hand and dragging her along to follow Olive. There was one guess in Magic's mind as to who this intruder could be, but it was likely that she was wrong.

As Magic sped down the wooden floors with El and Olive.

She wondered what the actual heck she had gotten herself into.
