here to talk about trans stuff more, per usuuaaalllll

caitlyn jenner announced her new name today n i am so happy for her !! she looks absolutely gorgeous in her vanity fair shoot n my timeline on twitter is being very trans positive even more so than usual which is very nice for me to see n spread !

however there are a few things i would like to remind you all.

1) @ cis girls: dont say things like "wtf shes prettier than ME" bc just bc shes trans doesnt mean she cant be pretty or prettier than you and it also implies that cis people are prettier and are supposed to be better looking by default

2) her name is caitlyn jenner and she uses she/her pronouns. do not use any other pronouns or names on her unless she says to.

3) just because you see good things right now and good things are happening to caitlyn n everything may seem okay to you does not mean transphobia is magically cured and over now. transphobia is very much alive and very much killing all sorts of trans people. there is not just one face of the trans struggle or trans community and everyone has different experiences which all deserve equal attention and are all very very valid and very very real. call out transphobia when you see it, make sure not to speak over trans people though, and support those around you who are trans or working out figuring out their identity ! it can be rough because things are not black and white, its not always boy or girl for someone {sometimes at first, sometimes never}

4) please realize that most trans people are not as well off as caitlyn is and are not as fortunate. being harassed by the media; easy? absofuckinglutely not, she has had many struggles and they are all valid but she's white, able bodied, VERY financially stable/rich, and has a supporting family who treats her very well. please realize that other trans people that the services and surgeries and what not needed for her to transition safely and to be able to how she wants to look were given to her due to her wealth and that a very very VERY VERY small percentage of trans are able to have those things for a various number of reasons. she has access to the best doctors who are well trained in trans specific surgeries; some trans people will never ever have that. and i think thats worth talking about and needs to be talked about as well as doing things like donating if you can to trans people who have donations open or who have commissions for something bc sometimes having a few jobs n good health coverage does not mean people can transition and a lot of the times trans people especially girls enter sex work to pay off the rest which is very dangerous and kills a lot of them. and a lot of trans people also come from EXTREMELY bad home situations due to them being trans its so toxic n not everyone is as fortunate as her. being trans is scary scary scary as fuck and not always vanity fair photoshoots.

5) take this as an opportunity to get more educated on trans issues n what not — including nonbinary trans issues n what not as well !!!!!!!!! im going to put some links down at the bottom of this n you can get some education there but also feel free to come to me if you want ! {though i may reference the links a bit bc they are really good}

6) as i stated above i do love to educate people n be as outspoken as i can about these things but it can be very exhausting. its hard to educate cis people especially when you say something in the nicest way possible n they respond aggressively. please keep that in mind in both the situation of coming to me if thats how u want to learn and in almost every other situation w people who are oppressed n fighting for their rights n what not ♡

7) trans people do not have to conform to cisnormative beauty ideas. some trans people cant afford to go on hormones or get surgery, ect n some dont even want it ! some might change their name n others might not. they are all beautiful and valid regardless.

please continue to support caitlyn n many other trans people in your life that you find. im very glad that this is happening especially because people like laverne and caitlyn can give young trans women and trans kids in general someone to look up to they can give some people hope which can be a very very hard thing to find as a trans youth. keep an open mind and heart. stay kind stay gracious stay humble xx
