While we wait for Y/N and Elena, the kids and I are unpacking. As much as I love my hometown, this house feels more like home. Feels new, and doesn't contain bad arguments or divorces. "Mom, why can't we just move here instead?" I hear Rose as she walks into the kitchen. Random question, damn. "First of all, your grandma and pa live about 15 minutes from us back home. With the Outset and your friends too." I replied, nervously on what she'll say next. "Yeah, but here it's quieter and calm. Back home, all I can hear is traffic and yelling." She continues, getting some snacks from the fridge. "I just wanted to bring up the option, like what if we could move here during the summers? I would like it, plus I'll get to see Y/N more." She adds, walking out. I just stand there in awe and confusion but quickly recover as I hear chaotic sibling whines. 'Have kids they said. They'll be fun they said. Fucking liars..' I whisper as I go see what's the damage.
After adjusting the chaotic breakdown, I finish cleaning up the toys and socks that were cluttering up the entrance. I hear the doorbell ring, they're here. I open the door, revealing Y/N with Elena. "Scarly" Elena excitedly yells as she runs toward me. Greeting her with open arms, I get a quick glance at Rose with Y/N. "I missed you Lena, how have you been?" I questioned as we continued our hug. "Good, mami got me some new toys and even got me a dino stuffie." She shares as I lift her up, she's old though but I've missed my little widow. Her current obsessions are dinosaurs and crystals. Why crystals? I don't know, maybe it's because they're shiny. Don't know. "Really? Well, I guess the present that I've got for you has to wait then." I tease her as we reunite with Y/N and Rose in the living room. "That's not fair." She pouts. "If your mom lets you and be kind to Mami for today, I will give it to you by tonight. Deal?" I whisper, hoping Y/N doesn't hear this. I can't spoil Elena too much, they don't like it when I do. After a few seconds of thinking it through, Lena agrees. "Deal."
"Rose, can you get Cosmo down? Lena can help you, just be gentle ok Lena?" I requested, trying to get some time alone with Y/N. "Yep," Lena quickly agrees, getting excited. "Elena" Y/N's tone of voice changes, warning Elena. "I'll be gentle, I promise." Lena rephrases her agreement. "Ok thank you" I yell to them as they leave. Finally, seeing my love. "Tea?" I offered, reading their body language. "Iced Coffee?" They replied, nervously. "Of course, love. Just lay down and relax. I'll be right back." I steal a quick kiss before heading to the kitchen. From what I can tell, they're tired and out of it. I feel so guilty, I don't know how to lighten up today. Just a bit.
Normal POV:
As Scar makes some iced coffee, I'm here overthinking our upcoming conversation. 'What if she's over this after telling her? She's going to see me as a monster. I don't want to ruin her career just because she's dating me. What if she runs? Am I enough for her?' My mind is on the rollercoaster that lost its brakes mid-cycle. She knows what's today. When I told her, she only took it in. She hasn't really mentioned it, so I'm ready for that too. "My love, your iced coffee with vanilla." I hear her voice as she approaches my view. "Thank you," I whisper but loud often that she can hear. "Have you visited James yet?" She questioned as she gets comfortable next to me on the couch. "I did. Was surprised by seeing James's family there though." I replied as I guide her feet into my lap. "What do you mean about surprised?" She asks. "Since Rhea's graduation, I haven't gotten in touch with them. Rhea is James's sibling, Celeste and Reuben are James's parents." I answered as I open up about them more. "Why not?" She asks, nervousness in her voice. "After my deployment with some marines, I was in a bad place, mentally. I couldn't get myself to face them." I replied as I gently stroked her leg. "But after the yelling that I received, I felt as if I never left them. So relaxed in the conversation that I didn't want it to end." I continued, trying to boost up the energy. "You missed them, obviously. I think you should invite them someday. Maybe for a barbeque." She requests but I'm getting married couple vibes right now. Don't hate it, just weird since we've been dating for a year. Wait, excuse me? Where and How? I mean we haven't even asked the question yet. Get it to it already...
"Y/N? Love?" Scarlett brings me back into reality. "Sorry, just in my mind I guess. Yes, that would be nice. But I'm currently homeless, basically." I ramble, not thinking of the words that are coming out of my mouth. "WHAT? What do you mean by homeless? What happened?" Scarlett jumps, sitting up next to me. "Ummm..." "Mami, Cosmo needs a change." Perfect timing kids. "I got it, don't worry I'll be back." I leave Scarlett in the dark. "Rose, can you help me find my phone?" Ahh shit, she's mad.
As I change Cosmo, I realized that he was ticklish. I use this new discovery to distract him and guide myself to finish my old routine. Unaware that Scarlett and the girls were watching at a distance. "Annnnd DONE. You're all clean, my Lil potato." I say to him as I pick him up. Earning a little chuckle out of him. "He's growing too fast." I hear Scarlett say, making me jump a little. "Mami, can Rose and I invite him to play with us?" Elena asks. "You're asking the wrong person, bubba. Ask Scarlett." I reply, still having Cosmo on my hip. "Can we, scarly?" She asks. "Can you ask again, properly this time?" Scar asks, giving me a quick glance. While I nodded, my body goes into a third-person view of this moment. Just absorbing this moment. I think I found her. I don't wanna jinx it but I'm positive.
