Song: Amor Eterno By Rocio Durcal

The firewood crackling echoes around the living room as Elena and Cosmo run around the couch. Wrapping paper is scattered all around the floor, struggling to untangle myself from my wife. Once I finally got some balance, I ,of course, stepped on Cosmo's hot wheels.

"GODDAMMIT." I groaned to myself as my wife was running out of air. "Just let me get some of this paper in the fire." I sighed at my clumsiness. "I'm going to pee myself." I hear her gasp for air. As the fire accelerated, I kept my eyes on it as I reunited with the couch.

"Help me up, no?" She says as she wiggled herself to the edge of the couch. "I peed myself because of you, dickhead." Geez, her mood swings are becoming more intimidating by the week. If you think Lizzie's head tilt is intimidating, wait until you see Scarlett's 180 mood shift. Pregnancy is a remarkable part of life but it's mostly a living hell.

I was left in the living room with the kids as Scarlett went to change. "Mama, can we play outside?" Cosmo launched himself into my stomach. "I'm sorry, potato, but it's too cold for us. What if I connect the Wii, would you like that?" I say as his chaotic ass attempts to climb up my legs. "Pwease?" His lisp resurfaced. "Lena? Would you like that too?" I yelled since she's in the kitchen. "Yes, please." She replies. "Go with Lena while I connect it." He jumps off of my stomach and runs to his sister.

As I program the Wii, I can feel my wife's eyes on me. "Creepy much?" I say as she slowly makes her way back into the couch. "I can't help it." She says as scooched herself under my arm. Once I finally get the Wii working, the kids run into the living room with Rose. Our limbs intertwine as we admire our kids competing against each other. My hand naturally looks for Scarlett's belly as her hand lands above mine. "I can't believe our gorgeous little family." She whispers. "Thank you for saving me, Scarlett." My lips pecked her forehead. A tumbling motion slides against our hands, "We woke you up, I'm sorry but it was mama's fault." Scarlett whispered. "I think it might have been your siblings. But mommy and mama are right here." I began to feel a little foot as for Scarlett, she began to whine. "Hey hey, there. That's your mommy you're kicking." I massaged her pregnant belly, succeeding in calming them down. "You spoke too soon, your second athlete woke up too." She whimpers as she holds her ribs. "Heating pad?" I asked while I turned it on. "If I had to do this once again, I could never complain. You're my angel." She smiles as she lays down with her pregnant pillow. I naturally caress her hair out of her sight while continuing to comfort my wife the best I can. "After this pregnancy, I don't think I could do this to you again. I mean I can tell you're in misery, most of the time." I reminded her as if she needed to be. "I did say 'If'" She side-eyes me.

"What I mean is that you're one of a kind, amor. I've been so bitchy to you. So when you run a bath for me or take the kids out of the house, it reminds me how grateful I am of you." I see a tear run. "You're the one growing our own little Apollo and Artemis. So I'm cautious of my actions and try to assist as much as I can." Attempting to comfort my wife as I open my mind to her. A sense of peace and euphoric feeling emerges as we gaze at our competitive kids, who are going chaotic with Just Dance. "Ay, cuánto amo esta familia. No te puedo describir como me hace feliz, pero es un milagro. Te amo, mi vida./Oh, how much I love this family. I can't describe how happy it makes me, but it's a miracle. I love you, my world." I whispered.

My heart ached as I found myself opening my eyes. The bright ceiling light blinding my eyes caused me to squint. My senses slowly waking up as well while I recollect my memory. My vitals on the monitor make my ears ring, recognizing that I'm in a hospital. The smell of a hospital is very distinguishable, same goes to the chill temperature. My memory sets this agitation, leading to attempting to sit up. But my actions were limited as this sting traveled in my abdomen. "Shit, Rodriguez. Too stubborn to lay still, huh?" A masculine familiar voice echoed through my ears. "Riggs?" I look over to my left. My throat felt like a desert as I questioned. He repositions the rolling table out of his way, reaching for the plastic cup. "Here, not too much. We're monitoring your fluid intake." Riggs informs as he hands over the cup, cautiously. "Man, Johansson just left, she's going to flip out that she missed this." He added. "So intimidating him worked." I admitted as I lifted my right arm up to see my IV lines. "It was the most ignorant plan you've ever come up with. Helpfully with intel but there were millions of different scenarios you could've done." His father's instinct surfaced but he wasn't wrong. "My family is in a very sensitive environment. Do you want me to sit around and deny that my family is in great danger? You, out of all, should know what I'm capable of. I am not letting them near my family." My heart rate increases. "Ok, deep breaths. I'm not the enemy here." Ethan stands up with his arms up.

"How is she? How's everyone?" I asked as I cleared my throat. I see him shake his head, "Always putting everyone first before your own well-being." He sighs. "They're all safe. All on their toes about you." He pauses while I feel my stiff body loosened. "Scarlett? The kids?" I asked, interrupting him. "She's in shock, the kids are with Olsen's mom. Scarlett just left with Olsen and Arnett. Nicole's in the waiting room with others." He tells me as he sinks into the chair. "Other?" I look over to his direction. "Olsen made some calls." He simply says, avoiding to overwhelm me. "How long was I out?" I questioned. "Almost 48 hours, you had major surgery." He informs me. "For fractured ribs and a stab wound?" I'm surprised that my body took that long. "Well no, during the scans the 2 remaining bullets you had within you, moved." Riggs explains. "But Dr. Kan and Dr.Gomez said..." He interrupts me. "They actually were informed and it's understandable for the bullets movement." He explains as he repositions himself. "So more evidence came up with more scarring on my body, great." I just stared at the ceiling. "Y/N, look on the positive. This brings us closer to the end." Ethan whispers as I feel him leading on the side of the bed. "Let's change the subject, who's with my kids?" Avoiding my mind to go spiral once again. "Olsen's mom.." His concerned tone surfaces. "I know that but I mean security." I explained. "Agents were stationed around your home as Homeland Security updated your security." Riggs clears his throat. "At least, they're taking this seriously now." I chuckled. "Ethan, do me a favor." I look over to him, he just nods. "Once this shitshow is over, get my retirement documents ready. This country failed me...us." A tear escapes, causing a deep sigh from him.
