"791-L-20, we need additional units on the freeway over on 5. A woman is standing on the edge, with a sign. Traffic is shut down." Dispatch reported, as I looked at Connor.
"We're en route." Connor said into his radio as we headed to that direction.
I'm a cop, who's been on the job for a few years now, and when you thought you saw everything... well, you'd be surprised.
This woman was standing on the edge, only in a bathrobe, with a sign behind her 'See me Norman.'
"People surprise me everyday." Harrison mumbled as we walked over to one of the officers, who filled us in. They've been trying to get her to come down. LAFD was arriving on scene in a few minutes.
"Hell no! I won't come down until Norman sees me!" The woman yelled back. "And don't you try to force me down!"
I took the radio, and spoke up, "Nobody's gonna force you to do anything. We're just gonna talk. What's your name?"
"Lola."
"Lola, my name is Lizzie. What's the problem?" I asked.
"The problem? The problem is, after 30 years of marrige, I can't get 30 seconds of attention from my husband! It's like I'm invisible! But I'm not invisible! I am here damn it. See me, Norman!" Lola yelled as she opened the bathrobe and let everyone see, well, everything.
"Oh, for god's sake." I shook my head.
"Definitely not invisible." Bobby spoke up, after joining us.
"Can somebody please find me this Norman before she does something crazy...er?" Harrison yelled back to the officers. They nodded and started working.
Only a few minutes passed before an officer walked up to me and told me Norman is on his way.
"Lola, good news, we found your man. He's on his way." I informed.
"I won't come down until he sees me!"
"Ma'am, you're the most famous face in the city right now. There ain't exactly a way to miss you." I stated.
"I don't care!"
"Okay, move Buck into position." Bobby told his team, as Buck went down and stood next to the lady while the others pulled up the inflamable mattress. But she started freaking out and pulled out a gun, from god knows where, and shot out the mattress.
"Stand down. Do not shoot!"
"Hold your fire!" Connor and I both yelled, as every cop held up their guns, ready to fire at any moment.
But then, Lola pointed the gun at Buck, and my heart stopped for a second.
"Lola, listen to me very carefully! You now have every firearm in the Greater Los Angeles area pointed at you! If you continue to threaten that fireman, they will fire! Do you understand? Do you?" I raised my voice.
