When we woke up we decided to go into town to see if anyone knew anything about the fire or our parents disappearance. Our parents have been missing for three weeks. Last time I saw my parents was at my track meet. Dani came home from a directors camp for the weekend when she came home and nobody was there.
We got dressed and I wore my favorite zebra shirt with black jeans. Dani wore a blue shirt with director's equipment on it and in bold letters it said "ACTION!!" She also wore denim jeans to match.
We headed out the door and walked down the street to Flure's (pronounced floor) coffee shop and started asking around there. We figured that since we woke up early most people would be getting their daily dose of caffeine, and since Flure's is the only coffee shop in town we went there first.
Once we arrived Dani headed straight towards Beatrice Randell, if anyone knew anything it would be her. She was the daughter of the mayor and was married to the head of the town council, not to mention she loved the town gossip.
"Hey Mrs.Randell" Dani said when we arrived at her table.
"Hey Daniell, but if I told you once I've told you a million times call me Beatrice".
"Oh ok, well we have some questions for you" Dani said motioning towards me.
"Sure thing, have a seat sweetie".
We sat down and Dani nudged me to ask the first question, great, I just love talking to weird adults.
"Um, do you know anything about a fire that happened last night" I said so quiet that it was almost a whisper.
" I sure do, it was both of your houses wasn't it?"
"Yeah, and we were wondering if you know anything about it" I said with a little more confidence.
"Uh, listen girls I gotta go to a meeting with my father, I'll see you later, uh bye" she said as she got up and practically ran out the door.
" I think she knows something we don't" Dani said confirming my thoughts.
" yeah we need to find out what she knows".
" let's talk about back at the motel, people might start asking us why we aren't with any adults". I agreed and we ran back to the motel.
Once we got back to the motel Dani stole some paper from the front desk along with a few pens, for some reason she loved pens but she never told me why, so I'm not sure why she does it. We got back into the room and Dani started drawing, she wasn't the best at drawing but neither was I. At the top she wrote "Break In Plan" Oh no I just know this is trouble but I like it.
"We are going to break into Beatrice's house tonight and look for clues but if not we are going to tie her up" Dani explained while scribbling down plans.
" We can't do that, that's illegal" I almost screamed out of shock.
"So what, she had information about our parents, that should be illegal".
"We can get caught!".
"No we can't I've been in her house a lot of times, I know the layout by heart, and besides they won't arrest two twelve year olds we could say she kidnapped us".
"Yeah I guess so, Tell me how this plan works".
