Chapter 16

⚠️ This chapter contains minor spoilers about Baizhu and his story. If you are not caught up, and you don't know I suggest you skip some parts. ⚠️

"Kiss, confess, makeout. You can do all of that later. Right now you need to get your head out of the clouds and start fighting."

Xiao brought you both back to reality as you saw Kori and his minions approach you.

"I knew there was something between the two of you. It's too bad, you would've looked better with me. As I torture you."

He ran towards you, pulling out his sword. You took out your polearm and used as defense, both of your weapons clashed against the other.

"You know... you really disgust me!"

"Aww thank you."

You swung your polearm at him, the weapon grazed the side of his face.

"You've really gotten a lot stronger."

"Thank you for noticing."

You went in to attack him again, this time leaving a clean slash mark across his stomach.

He jumped back and winced in pain.

"Seems like I'm underestimating your abilities and strength. I guess it's time to get serious then."

His comment made you want to sneer. How dare he underestimate you.

He knew that his comment made you boil with anger. You always had the tendency to think irrationally, and do things without thinking. The best way to overpower you is by getting you to lash out.

And that's exactly what he's going to do.

But snarky remarks won't be enough to completely push you over the edge.

He needs to get you where you're most vulnerable. And what makes you most vulnerable?

That part is easy.

People that you care about is your weakness.

And who do you care about the most?

Ah yes. The light green haired male that you've seemed to grow attached to.

Get to him, and he gets to you.

Kori jumped forward, you were ready to attack again.

But at the last second, he swerved and went for the male behind you.

Everything happened so fast, you barely had any time to react.

Kori looked at him with a devilish grin, and before Baizhu could react, a stab wound was inflicted on his side. Kori then kicked him to the ground, and Baizhu fell to the ground, coughing up blood. Yet another stab wound appeared on his perfect body.

You turned around ready to attack, but you stopped and your eyes widened as you realized ahead of time the position you were in.

Kori smirked at you. That same smirk that haunts your nightmares.

"Make a decision Y/N. Come with us, or watch as the love of your life gets stabbed in his throat."

Through Baizhu's blurry vision he could see the man staring down at him his sword pointed right at his throat.

"Don't do it!"

Baizhu's voice called out to you. His words made your heart stop.

"I can't let you die! I'd rather kill myself before I see or let you die!"

Your words were heartwarming yet saddening at the same time.

"You have to trust me!"

You did trust him. You trusted him with your life.
