Chapter 18

You stared at your friends, in their paralyzed states. Your heart broke, as you looked at them. Nothing but pain surrounded them. And pain consumed your heart.

Every word that Jean said was on point, and you couldn't help but blame yourself.

You let out a shaky breath, to keep yourself from breaking down.

"You can help them? For sure. Can't you?"

You turned to Baizhu, pure heartache in your eyes.

"I will do the best I can."

Baizhu walked over to your friends, and started healing them to the best of his abilities, activating his vision.

"There may be things he can't heal, like internal injuries."

Jean's words and negativity made you lose some of your hope. More than anything you just wanted your friends to be okay, and right now they're not.

"Don't think so negatively Jean, let her hope."

Barbara's words rung in your head. "Let her hope."

So essentially, there is no hope, or at least realistic hope...

You let out another sigh, and walked out of the church.

"This can't be happening to me.."

You sat on the stairs of the Cathedral, and held your head in your hands. All of your emotions released in quiet sobs.

"Why did all of this have to happen?"

Your quiet sobs became louder, you let out coughs in between.

"Archons I beg you to help me..."

The faces of your friends flashed through your mind, as well as the image of Baizhu getting hurt by Kori.

You can't let them get hurt anymore because of you, it's your fight not theirs. And yet they still try and help you.

After awhile you finally calmed down, the tears in your eyes slowly subsided.

You stood up, and walked towards the exit gate of Mond.

"Maybe I should just live on the run... never stay in one place too long. My friends are getting hurt because of me, and I can't take it anymore."

Your words were low and saddened.

Before you could exit the front gate, a giant monster nothing like you have ever seen before entered the city. As well as an angry Kori.

Burns were all over his body, his throat was scorched, and some of his features weren't the same. No more eyebrows, half of his hair was burnt, one of his eyes were burnt so he had no vision in it, and the right side of his face was burnt so bad that it looked like it could be melting.

"Y/N!"

As soon as he called out to you, you pulled out your weapon ready to attack.

"Where is that doctor?!"

"Why do you want to know?"

"I'm gonna give him a world of pain."

Your eyes widened.

"Let's see if he can heal his own injuries after I'm through with him. If he even is still alive by then."

"Tell me where he is!"

"I'm not telling you anything!"

"Then I'll find him myself."

"Kill her."
