I Got Transported to Another World and Can't Die (Rough Draft/Non-Official)

Chapter 8: Ford and Rae

Ford was exhausted, not just from staying awake for a week straight, but also from overworking himself

Ford: "ughhh"

Ford could not go to sleep no matter what he tried, he would always have the same nightmares..

One day, Arias walked into his room..

Arias: "hello, Ford"

Ford: "Hello, fair lady!"

Arias sighed, not responding to Ford.

Arias: "You seem to be overworking yourself.. I'm getting worried"

Ford: "haha, seeing you can help me get to sleep!"

Arias: "Seriously, now's not the time to be making jokes!"

Ford: "uhh..."

Arias sighed, and said

Arias: "I'm gonna have Rae check on you.."

Ford would be happy to talk to Rae again, as they haven't really chatted much.

Rae was Arias's contract spirit.

Upon heading to the garden of the castle, Ford would meet with Rae..

Rae: "Hey, Ford!"

Ford: "Rae! What's good, buddy?"

Rae: "I'm fine myself, but you don't seem to be at all.."

Ford sighed, and said-

Ford: "yeah, truth is, I'm not actually fine... I've been having these strange nightmares, which have stopped me from sleeping.."

Rae: "Nightmares, huh? You mind telling me what kind?"

Ford: "umm, they're kind of strange... Each one involves me getting engulfed in a dark fog...."

Rae: "I see..."

Rae said quietly, so no one could hear him.

Rae: "I think I know what's going on... You seem to be getting special treatment from the Calamitous Witch.."

Ford: "Calamitous Witch?..."

Rae: "Calamitous Witch is what the people called her... Her real name is unsaid.. She was the one responsible for burning half the world 800 years ago.."

Ford: "So what do the nightmares have to do with her?"

Rae: "I don't know for sure, but having dreams of a dark fog engulfing you might mean you have a connection to her in some way.."

Rae: "I could be wrong though since I don't trace any malice in you at all!"

Ford: "How can I have a connection to someone I've never even met?"

Rae: "Not sure... No one really knows how her mind works."

Ford: "hmm... Anyway.."

Ford would change the subject

Ford: "Are you able to tell me more about magic?"

Rae: "yeah of course!"

Rae: "there are three well known forms of magic... Fire, water, and Ice!"

Ford: "Do I have one?"

Rae: "You do actually! I can tell you do... Just not sure which one..."

Rae: "you want me to check?"

Ford: "oh yeah!"

Ford was excited to learn about what type of magic he would have..

Ford: "Is it the burning flame??"

Ford: "or is it a deadly wave.."

Ford: "or the icicles of doom??"

Rae: "It's light!"

Ford: "what??"

Ford was shocked to hear he had a fourth form of magic that was unknown to the people-

Ford: "I thought there were only three?"

Rae: "there are only three KNOWN ones."

Rae: "On top of that, there are two unknowns! Light and star!"

Rae: "Star magic is unknown even to me, but it is said anyone with Star magic can call the stars to help them defeat an enemy.."

Rae: "However, you have light.. and with that, you can create any weapon you want using only light!"

Rae: "it is unknown how to create the weapon though.."

Ford: "Seriously?! So it's useless??"

Rae: "I didn't say that! Star and Light are two of the most powerful forms of magic out there!!"

Rae: "They are also very rare.. which is why they're unknown"

Ford: "you have any clues on how to create a weapon??"

Rae: "Nope, sorry"

Ford: "damnit.."

Ford deemed his form of magic as useless, since he didn't think he would ever find out how to create the weapons...

Ford: "So back to the nightmares, are you able to help me get rid of them?"

Rae: "This should work!"

Rae handed Ford what seems to be a dreamcatcher

Ford: "are you sure?"

Ford was laughing in his head

Rae: "These are laced with a special type of mana that can capture dreams!"

Ford: "I guess I'll see... Thank you!"

With that, Ford would continue to have small talk with everyone until it got dark, and then he would head back to his room-

Ford: "only one way to find out..."

Ford hung the dreamcatcher up, and went to sleep..

He wouldn't have any nightmares.

Ford had finally got a good night's sleep..

Ford: "Finally!"

Ford was relieved.
