29th October :

Tonight was the night! The Rave'N! Everyone was so excited, even the teachers! This year was different for me though, I was still excited but I also felt sick with nerves. All day different parts of my body flickered in and out of sight whenever I thought about mine and Larissa's plan and what could go wrong. I even came up with an escape plan just in case.

Larissa stayed in her quarters for the day and informed everyone that she would not be attending the dance due to illness so Ms. Thornhill was in charge. I'd agreed to meet her at the entrance to the hall so we could walk in together and make it seem like she had just arrived.

I spent hours getting ready. As soon as I put my outfit and make-up on I felt more confident. I looked at myself in the mirror and I didn't see a girl anymore, I saw a young woman. It was an odd feeling but a good one.

I headed downstairs and my friends were at the bottom waiting for me. They all looked amazing dressed in white suits and silver dresses. Wednesday is apparently 'allergic to colour' but she still looked great in her black ruffle dress with the spider brooch in the middle of her collar like a choker.

"Wow! You look amazing Nikki!" Enid squealed.
"Damn! You look hot!" Enid shot a look at Ajax and growled at him.
"Lauren is a lucky girl" Yoko said, flashing her fangs at me. Did I really look that good?
"Thanks. You all look great too! Let's head over, Lauren should be here soon" I said, I could feel my voice shaking already.
As we walked over to the hall Wednesday whispered something to Xavier then came over to me.
"You seem different" she said.
"Do I? How exactly?"
She looked me up and down, "older".
"Thanks?" I couldn't tell if it was a compliment.
"Just keep an eye on this" and I felt her touch my invisible hand. I gulped.
"I'm trying. Believe me."

The doors of the dance hall were framed with a tall white archway with icicles hanging from it and a tunnel filled with fairy lights led the way inside.
"You guys go in, I'm gonna wait here for Lauren" I said.
Enid insisted on staying with me but Wednesday dragged her away.
I waited for what felt like hours, my heart was pounding. I kept checking my phone but had no new messages. After a while I started to panic. Did she get cold feet? Had she stood me up? Was something wrong? Did she get caught? I checked my phone again. No signal?! I was outside! How could I not have any signal for fu-
"Hello" a soft voice said.
I looked up from my phone and saw a beautiful young woman with long wavy platinum blonde hair, pale skin, bright blue eyes and cherry red lips standing in front of me. She was the same height as me and wearing an embroidered silver cocktail dress that shimmered in the light...along with a familiar silver charm bracelet on her wrist.
"Larissa?" I whispered as quietly as I could. She smiled and nodded.
"You...look..." my mouth hung open but the words didn't come out. She giggled.
"So do you" she said in a higher pitched voice, "sorry I'm late. I got...stage fright."
She sounded embarrassed. I smiled sympathetically.
"It doesn't matter, you're here now. I'm so proud of you"
I kissed her. She may have looked different but her lips felt the same.
"Let's go".
We linked arms and strolled through the tunnel of lights.

Enid came running over as soon as we entered.
"HIII! You must be Lauren! I'm Enid! It's so nice to finally meet you!" she was so giddy it was adorable.
"Hi Enid, it's nice to meet you too" Lauren replied, she managed to disguise her nerves as shyness.
"You look stunning! I LOVE your dress and your hair is gorgeous! I was thinking of growing mine but it tends to stick out-" she was ready to swap style tips before Wednesday interrupted.
"Enid. Calm down" she said sharply, like she was telling off a child.
"Oh! This is Wednesday. As you can tell she's the life and soul of the Rave'N" Enid said very sarcastically.
"Hello Wednesday" Lauren said and she gripped my arm a little tighter.
Wednesday eyed her suspiciously then, to everyone's surprise, held out her hand to shake Lauren's. Oh no. I knew what she was doing but before I could stop it Lauren shook her hand. As soon as they touched Wednesday's eyes widened, her head snapped back and her body went stiff as she fell backwards. Xavier caught her just before she hit the floor. We gathered around her to help. She was unresponsive for a few seconds until she blinked and her body relaxed.
"Oh no! Is she OK?! Did I do something?" Lauren panicked, pretending not to know about Wednesday's visions.
"She's fine, she sometimes has psychic visions when she touches someone" Xavier explained.
"What did you see Wednesday?" Enid asked, worried about her best friend.
Wednesday looked up at me and Lauren and just said "all the gory details".
Lauren's face turned as red as her lipstick.

After that incident we partied for hours, dancing, laughing and mingling. The group really took to Lauren, which was funny to me because little did they know they were partying with their Principal!
Later on me and Lauren sat at a table together in the corner.
"Are you having fun?" I shouted over the music.
"Yes! So much fun!" I could see how happy she was to let her hair down. Tonight she didn't have to keep an eye out for troublemakers or anyone spiking the punch. I got us some drinks and we chatted for a bit.
"She knows, doesn't she?" Lauren said, gesturing towards Wednesday. I nodded.
"I may have slipped up yesterday. I'm so sorry. But she's been a good friend and she's promised me she won't tell" I said.
"Do you trust her?" Lauren asked.
"I do actually. Wednesday isn't one for gossip" I said.
"I suppose that's reassuring" she took a large gulp from her drink, "what do you think she saw in her vision earlier?"
"All the gory details" I repeated and we both started laughing.

Just then the pace of the music slowed down and couples started to pair up for a slow dance. I stood up and held out my hand to Lauren, "may I have this dance m'lady?".
She put her hand in mine and I led her to the dance floor. She placed her arms on my shoulders and we swayed together in a loving embrace. We smiled, staring into each other's eyes, we didn't need to speak. I glanced over at Enid and she gave me an eager thumbs up as she danced with Ajax, even Wednesday gave me a nod and a small smile as she danced with Xavier.
"They're happy for us" I whispered to Lauren.

This is pretty much what I imagined 'Lauren' to look like (but with red lips):
