After getting the tour inside the manor, Wednesday and Enid went back to the goth's room, starting to work on the unpacking, Wednesday making room for Enid to hang up some of her clothes in her closet.
"Thanks, Willa." She smiled, getting a resigned sigh in response.
"This isn't going to stop, is it?" She asked, looking over at Enid, who simply beamed at her.
"Nope." She said, popping the P as she rocked back and forth on her feet with her hands behind her back. "Better get used to it." She continued, returning to the task at hand, making sure all her clothes that she wanted to hang up were safely in the closet.
Strict to her routine as ever, Wednesday excused herself, sitting at her desk with her typewriter to get started working on her novel, leaving Enid to her own devices.
Not wanting to disturb her, Enid took the opportunity to explore the manor by herself, finding her way to one of the lounge rooms.
There was a large fireplace with the hearth warm with a crackling fire, heating up the room and filling it with the smell a wood fire.
"Oh, Enid! Come in. Join me by the fire." Morticia greeted, putting her book down to invite the young girl to her side.
"Um, thank you." She replied politely, walking around the large lounge chair, and sitting next to Morticia as instructed, not wanting to seem rude by taking a spot a little further away.
"Wednesday's writing hour I presume?" She asked with a knowing look.
"Yeah, stickler to her schedule as ever." Enid replied, trying to hide the fact she was slightly nervous alone with Wednesday's mother, wanting to make a good impression on her despite the fact they were only pretending to be dating.
"I'm afraid I don't know that much about you, my dear, save for what little Wednesday has told us. So please, tell me about yourself. I'd love to hear how you and my dreadful daughter became a couple." She asked, placing a hand gently on Enid's shoulder as she spoke.
"Oh, um... Well, I'm sure you heard about the battle with the zombie misogynistic pilgrim Joseph Crackstone?" Enid asked, unsure exactly how to start as their agreed upon story had been decidedly vague at best.
"Yes, of course." Morticia replied, giving Enid her full attention.
"Well, after Wednesday defeated him, and I defeated the Hyde, we kinda... hugged. I thought she was dead, and I guess she thought I was too, so it just kinda happened. I know I was super relieved she was okay, and I almost tackled her to the ground when I hugged her, but then she hugged me back and it was like I could breathe again. That probably doesn't make much sense, but it was the best hug I've ever received in my life. Not long after that, like maybe a few weeks, she just kinda asked me." Enid rambled, not realising until she said it that most of what she said regarding the hug was true.
"How did she ask you?" Morticia asked, genuinely curious, confusing Enid that she hadn't bored her or annoyed her with her incoherent babbling by now.
"Oh... Well, you know what she's like. It was super Wednesday like and formal. Something like 'Enid Sinclair, I wish to court you. Are you agreeable to this?' So, yeah, super formal."
"Sounds just like her." Morticia beamed. "I assume she followed the usual Addams courting steps?" She asked, making Enid swallow nervously, completely out of her depth.
"I-I... Where's Pubert?" She asked, pretending to look around for the little boy.
"I put him down for his afternoon nap. He won't be up again for a few hours." Morticia replied, taking note of the topic change, graciously not pushing the issue.
