"We're trapped..." Tidus said as they rushed into a small dark room. Rex closed the door behind them and Zayla looked up turning on the light for another way out. "There's a vent..." she mentioned. "Yeah, but it's too small for Bodoku and I..." he looked at Rex, "you two could fit-" "And leave you behind? No way!" "I didn't say that... Marnie can only control my power if I'm holding a weapon, and Bodoku has no power for her to take hold of, I'm saying you have better chances of getting help without me lugging him around". Rex frowned, "but... they don't need either of you alive..." Tidus looked at Bodoku's wide eyes, "well... I guess we'll have to hold out until you return..." "Are you crazy? Rex watched as he put Bodoku down to lean against the wall, "so what then? We fight?" He asked. Bodoku raised his head, "just gimme a sword, I know how to cook..." He muttered wobbling. "We're all going to die..." Rex muttered. Zayla seemed to be in thought, Tidus nudged her arm, "you got a plan?" He asked. She shook her head, "sadly no but... somethings been bugging me..." She looked at him, "when we told Torlan we'd killed Devari, he didn't seem bothered". Rex shrugged, "he kinda didn't like the danger Devari always put him and Dash in- uh Tidus... excuse me..." Tidus gave a forgiving nod. Zayla shook her head, "no, it was more than that, he wasn't shocked. It was like he-" "Like he believes that Devari is still alive..." Tidus finished. Rex blinked, "but, he can't still be alive, I mean y-you put your hand through his chest there's no way he could survive that!" "Unless he figured out a way to become immortal like Zayla", Tidus deduced. Zayla swallowed hard and turned away, "no... my letter..." she realized, "my father stated what other ingredient my mum was using when the accident happened..." "So he managed to get the oil...?" They jumped as the door banged, "they've found us!" Rex cried. Zayla drew Tidus' dual blades and tossed one to Rex, "it's up to us", she said as Tidus shielded Bodoku...

"There it is!" Yuki called pointing the to Zanaria spire. Seth surveyed the area, "an awful lot of guards", he mentioned, "it looks like they're expecting us". Yuki grinned, "they won't be expecting this", Seth held her tighter as Haku zoomed down and smashed through the top of the spire taking it clean off. The dubree showered down below killing a few of the clones. Haku was too large to land on the spire so he stretched out his wing and roared, "be careful", to Yuki. She patted his neck, "we will". "Call for me if you need assistance", he watched as she slid down the wing and landed feet first in the smashed lab, "your turn Seth". Seth tensed as he turned his body staring below the wing, "is now a bad time to mention I don't like heights!?" "Too late for that let's go, don't be a wimp", she said with a small smile. Seth trembled slightly then gave a squeal as he slid down the wing and into Yuki's arms, she released him as he said, "we'll never speak of this..." she gave him a cheeky look then waved Haku off. Seth drew his large red sword then grimaced holding his side and coughing blood. Yuki stared with concern, "Seth". "I-I'm alright..." he choked wiping his mouth, he straightened, "let's get this done". She began down the steps in a rushed jog with Seth close behind. The first hall they entered had doors down the sides, "this looks cuckoo", Yuki stated. They walked through the first door to see a bloodied clone dead on a table, "my goodness..." Seth gulped holding his mouth and nose in disgust. Yuki looked at him, "I guess this clone didn't make the cut", she joked gaining his disapproving glare, she shrugged, "dark humor isn't for everyone". "Let's move on..." Was all he could think of to say, they entered the next few rooms that were empty, then... "Is that Devari?" Seth questioned, he and Yuki checked the body on the ground, "it is..." Yuki stood up and looked around seeing a hole in the wall, "something went down here". "Capturing Bodoku was the last mistake he made", Seth said matter-of-factly. "Zayla killed him", she came back to Devari's body, "see the burn marks in his chest, like Dahlia". "You think Zayla found out they brought Bodoku here?" Yuki nodded in thought, as he continued, "but the hole looks a little small doesn't it?" Yuki straightened, "who cares? His dead which means our friends are running around fighting everything else, who knows what state they're in". "Let's get after them", Seth rushed out first almost giving a yelp as Yuki yanked him back and slapped a hand over his mouth, "Marnie..." she whispered. Seth nodded and pulled her hand away, "what now?" "She can't hurt me, I'll take care of this". "Wait!" Seth grabbed her arm as Torlan came into view. "Marnie, haven't you killed them yet?" Marnie puffed her cheeks at Torlan, "what about you? Didn't you find them first?" "Yeah but... I mean you know I can't fight when I laugh, happy emotions cause my powers to malfunction..." "You stopped fighting because they made you laugh?" "Yeah... hehe... ah you shoulda seen Bodoku, Rex hit him with the healing mist". "I know, what a fool", she grinned. Seth frowned at Yuki, both of them knew what happens to humans hit by the healing mist, "Rex..." Seth muttered. Yuki nodded, "his like a healer, his past is a mystery". "Much like the rest of us I suppose..." "We'll split up then!" They heard Marnie yell. "Keep your knickers on, I'll go below, in case they get past you, don't worry about the boss, I guess he'll get to test his theory now that his dead", he snorted then vanished. Marnie sighed walking to the end of the hall, kicking open every closed door as she went to make sure no one was inside. Seth looked at Yuki, "what does that mean? Devari check his theory now that his dead? Do you think in those three months he was able to figure out the genetic code combination needed to gain immortality?" "I don't know... but if I had to guess, he let Zayla kill him so he could find out..." "What now?" Yuki thought for a moment, "we wait for Marnie to find the right door". "But Devari-" "We can deal with him another time, our friends are more important". "You're right". They watched as Marnie kicked a door, it didn't open so she banged it again. Seth and Yuki glanced at each other.
