Karter felt Obelious' control over his body, or rather, their coexistence. Unlike the previous occasions when Obelious took over, this time Karter's awareness was much clearer.

"What are you doing?" Karter asked Obelious, feeling more lucid than before.

"Let me talk to him," replied Obelious in a deeper voice. There was a sense of calm in his words that helped Karter feel slightly at ease.

"I don't want you to interfere," Karter hesitated, even his own voice betraying his uncertainty.

"Just trust me," Obelious insisted, though it seemed like he wanted to say more, settling for those three words.

"Trust you?" Karter scoffed. "I would rather—" His words were abruptly cut off as he felt himself fading, unable to form coherent thoughts or speak.

"That mutt," Karter thought, realizing that Obelious had intentionally blocked him, and he settled for observing the frightened eyes of Kaya.

"What do you mean? Death?" Milo's voice trembled as he responded to the dreadful words that had escaped his cousin's lips. "Who did he harm?"

"Most of our patrol warriors," Kaya whispered, his tone filled with unease.

"Start from the beginning," Ivan instructed, though his gaze remained fixed on Karter—or rather, Obelious, as he finally realized. "Please, have a seat." Ivan attempted to maintain a sense of normalcy, despite Obelious's presence in front of Kaya.

Obelious nodded knowingly and claimed Ivan's seat at the head of the table. The pack Alpha positioned himself by Obelious's side, while the others took their places on the few remaining intact chairs. Alex and Killian's eyes flickered with concern as they noticed Karter's silver eyes.

Kaya's Omegas stood tall around him as the Alpha placed his head in his hand with a resigned sigh. The Omegas had their eyes sharp and alert now, nowhere near containing the hazy gaze filled with lust for the young Alpha.

"So," Kaya said, pausing to catch his breath. "That day, I was with my mums, just like every week, checking on our pack's security when he suddenly appeared near us. We have strict rules - no one gets into our pack without a permit and a background check. It was a total shock because he showed up out of nowhere. Our location is a secret, so it was even more surprising that he found us. We were at the border when we sensed something was wrong. Suddenly, he..." Kaya shuddered, clearly disturbed. Milo placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"He brutally killed ten of our patrol warriors in a horrifying way. It's hard to believe someone could do such a thing in such a short time. One moment, the warriors were reporting to me, and the next, they were dead." Kaya looked down, his face filled with sorrow. "Then, he demanded that we let him and his two companions into our pack. It put us in a terrible situation - should we risk our pack's safety or confront this ruthless threat head-on?"

"There are only three of them." Ivan said in a plain voice. "Couldn't you just take the risk and drive them away?" Ivan raised his brow.

"Did you miss the part where I said they killed TEN of my warriors in mere minutes?" Kaya replied in an incredulous voice.

"Yeah, that makes sense." Obelious said and sent a pointed look toward Ivan, making the Alpha shrug.

"They weren't even in their wolf form. Not to mention it took them just a few minutes to do the job. The bones were broken in weird ways and there was blood everywhere. We suspect there was something unnatural about them."
