Chapter 8

Jason's POV

"Jason, Jason. Come on, wake up." I heard a soft voice. The voice sounded like it could easily pull me awake. "Please, Jason, wake up. Please. You're safe now, everything will be fine. We're safe."

'How can everything be fine when all I can picture is Piper lying there, lifeless.' I thought.'Wait, aren't I supposed to be dead?' Reality struck me right in the face.

'I was supposed to be dead. I jumped off of a freaking cliff. I'm supposed to be dead. So why aren't i?'

I felt really groggy and my eyes felt glued shut, otherwise I would probably open them.

"Come on, Jason" I heard a sniffle. "Don't make me slap you in the face to wake you up." I heard a laugh then another sniffle. Whoever was sitting beside me was crying.

I tried to move my arms or legs but I couldn't feel them. I felt paralyzed. And I also couldn't open my eyes, great. I just wanted to sleep anyways... But I know that sleep usually brings nightmares...

The walls around me were damp and rock. Water dripped from the roof and there were signs on the walls that were made with a red liquid. Blood? I couldn't tell what the signs were but I tried to move. I looked up to see my hands tied, with rope, to the roof of the cave. My face hurt and my body was sore all over. I could tell I probably had bruises on my face and I could taste a bit of blood that came from my lip. My ribs hurt every time I took in a breath and exhaled. It was completely dark in the room, except for the shine from the damp walls. The room smelt of rain and dead bodies... I noticed a few bones to the side. Where was I? My stomach hurt and I could tell I hadn't eaten in days, maybe weeks. I heard a deep roar coming from the very far end of the tunnel on one side of the cave. I was knocked out.

Someone was shaking me awake. I barely had any feeling in my hand, but I could manage to move my fingers a little bit. Then I could feel my hands and my arms were starting to get feeling back. "Come on Jason, we have to get you out of here. Now." I tried to open my mouth to talk but I couldn't. I was pulled under once again.

It was rainy outside, and the sky was filled with grey smoky clouds. And the regular smell was replaced with the smell of rain. But the rain never touched me. I looked up and saw I was under a large tree. I looked across the horizon and saw the fiery sun. It looked like it was going underneath the water. The water rippled and shone and little droplets splashed about from the raindrops. I felt someone rest their head on my shoulder and looked over to see Piper. Her eyes shone with happiness. A smile was upon her face and she looked at me.

"Why are you staring at me?" She asked me.

"I-I'm not staring."

"Yes you are." She laughed.

She grabbed my hand then started to stand up, so I got up with her. She dragged me out into the rain and she pointed across the horizon.

"Do you ever just feel like you want to get away? Just go across the water and never come back." I nodded.

"I love you, you know." I said to her. She grabbed my shirt and pulled me into a kiss.

"I love you too."

"Please. We have to get out of here. Now. Please Jason. Please. Wake up. I'm not leaving you here alone, to die."

I could finally feel both my legs and arms. My eyelids still felt heavy but I managed to open them a little.

My heart jumped and I skipped a breath. Who I saw in front of me, was someone I didn't think I would see ever again.
