The room is tense.

Edward: Rosalie. Will you put Renesmee to bed please?

Rosalie: Of course, come on sweet heart.

Bella: I'll be there when you wake my love.

RENESMEE nods, being picked up by ROSALIE and disappears from the room. ALISTAIR moves to stand behind CARLISLE.

Carlisle: Vladimir, Stefan. You're a long way from home.

KATE whispers to TANYA.

Kate: What are they doing here?

VLAD addresses the room loudly and smugly.

Vlad: We heard the Volturi were moving against you. But that you would not stand alone.

Carlisle: We didn't do what we were accused of.

Vlad: We do not care what you did, Carlisle.

Stefan: We have been waiting a millennium for someone to challenge the Italian scum.

Carlisle: It is not our plan to fight the Volturi.

Vlad: Shame. Aro's witnesses will be so disappointed.

Stefan: They enjoy a good fight.

Almost all gasp, fearfully. ORLA looks at ALISTAIR to gauge his reaction but ALISTAIR is wrapped up in his own head.

Still hoping they'll listen?

Eleazar: When Aro wants someone from a coven, it's never long before evidence shows up proving that coven has committed a crime.

Bella: He's done this before.

Eleazar: It happens so rarely, I hadn't realised it was a pattern.

Carlisle: Apparently, he always pardons one person, claiming their thoughts are repentant.

Eleazar: This person always has an ability, and are always given a place with the guard.

There is a hush. EDWARD stands up angrily.

Edward: This is all about Alice. He doesn't have anyone like her.

Bella: Which is why she left.

Edward: Why does he need witnesses?

Alistair: To spread the word that justice has been served. After he slaughters an entire coven.

All look to each other. ORLA, who had been looking at ALISTAIR, lowers her eyes to the ground, shifting. LIAM shifts in her seat. AMUN looks to KEBA, they begin to walk.

Amun: Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving.

Edward: And where will you go? What makes you think they'll be satisfied with Alice? You just heard what Eleazar said, Aro has Demetri and he will come for whoever he wants. What is to stop them for coming for Benjamin? Zafrina? Kate, or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want? Their goal isn't punishment, it's power acquisition. Carlisle might not ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of my family, but also for yours.

Jacob: The packs will fight, we have never been afraid of vampires.

Tanya: We will fight.
