The wind howled in the depths of the cave, leaving the dragonet hiding inside cold and scared. Skyfire was a hybrid dragonet- half SkyWing, and almost half NightWing. This alone was enough for her execution. She was also an animus that had been born on the brightest night. It was the worst possible combination- and if Queen Scarlet knew that she even existed, well... Skyfire wouldn't exist for long afterwards.

Fortunately, Skyfire's mother and father loved her dearly. They were a happy little family for most of the time, even though he mother was a runaway from the Night Kingdom and her father was a SkyWing deserter. Skyfire's mother warned her to NEVER use her powers, and so she hadn't.

Skyfire perked up to the sound of talons coming from the entrance to her home. A large NightWing entered the cave.

"Who are you?" Skyfire hissed. "My father's in the back right now, and my mother's just down below.

The NightWing growled. "Your father... the one who was recently reported as seen in these caverns?"

"Y-yes? Maybe? But he's till here. A-and my mother, too. So stay back!"

The NightWing narrowed his eyes. "You mean this mother?"

He threw something at Skyfire. She flinched for a second, fearing a weapon. Then she opened her eyes and saw something much worse- her mother's severed head, resting gently on her talons.

The lifeless eyes stared straight at Skyfire. The blood was still glistening, and was barely crusted over. "What did you do to her?" Skyfire screamed. "My father's going to be so upset! And- and..."

And I loved my mother more than anything else in the world.

"Now Skyfire. Your father won't be upset for your mother's death. Not while he's focused on his upcoming trial."

"T- trial? What did you DO?" Skyfire felt ready to burst into tears. Her family was gone. She knew she'd never get them back. And she was filled with a sudden hatred for this- this-

His name is Morrowseer. I hate him. I hate him I hate him.

"Maybe you won't feel so inclined to hide from my prophecy," he told her. Skyfire burst into tears. "We needed you three years ago- the Dragonet Prophecy isn't the same with a RainWing, after all." With that, Morrowseer left Skyfire alone in her tears.

Skyfire made up her mind. She would wait five years, to honor her mother's request. Then she would come after Morrowseer... no, that wasn't enough. She'd take his precious dragonets away from him. She removed her father's necklace, and suddenly the visions came flowing through. It sure was useful to be born on the Brightest Night in over two thousand years. And the visions came to her.

Skyfire made a vow of vengeance to attack those Dragonets with everything she had- her visions, magic, and mindreading. Her flight and fire. When the time came, those dragonets will die the slowest and most painful death she could provide- including watching their loved ones die.
