Peril woke up just outside her room. What happened? All that Peril remembered was a bunch of needles. To her surprise, she realized it was nighttime. She must have been out for the day, so she laid down to rest. From somewhere outside, Peril head a gentle instrumental melody. As she closed her eyes, Peril heard a beautiful voice outside. It took her a minute to realize that it was the SeaWing- Tsunami, Clay had said. Peril tilted her ear to listen to the gentle song. From across the arena , an IceWing began singing as well.
"The dragonets are coming...
They're coming to save the day...
They're coming to fight for they know what's right...
The dragonets hooray..."
"The dragonets are coming...
They're coming to fight for peace...
They're here to bring calm for the war went on...
But they're here to make it cease..."
"Stop that infernal noise!" Queen Burn roared from the- wait. When did Burn get here? Peril groaned as Queen Scarlet ordered her to sit outside.
Might as well visit Clay, Peril thought. She started gliding up to his tower, before realizing that she had no idea what she wanted to talk about. She turned slightly and flew around the arena for a bit instead. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue and purple, with an overwhelming black consuming it all. When she felt that she had enough to say, she flew towards the MudWing.
"Hello, Clay," Peril said upon landing. "You didn't happen to start that instrumental song, did you?" She asked. "It would have been heroic." She added... for some reason. However, Clay's next comment surprised her.
"Me?" Clay asked. "I'm the most worthless dragon that exists. Can't be a monster. Can't fight a monster. Can't even protect my friends. And they're changing so much in the arena- I feel like I'm the only one who's not."
"Clay," Peril said. "You are amazing and loving. Don't say that about yourself! Although if you didn't start it... I really thought you would have. So... who did?"
"Oh, that NightWing a few cells down- I don't know her name though, but I heard she's won three battles so far."
Three? Wait did I miss events, or have events not happened yet? What is wrong with my brain? It didn't help when Peril saw the banner reading "Feast for Queen Scarlet's Hatching Day." She must have really conked her head or something- but why hadn't the Queen punished her for sleeping for several days? Or for essentially losing a fight?
"Want to know what's really strange, though?" Clay asked.
"Uh, sure," Peril replied.
"Tsunami's singing," Clay said. "It's actually really, really, beautiful- and she used to be a complete stranger from the word melody."
Peril shrugged. "Maybe she took singing lessons?"
Clay laughed nervously. "That's not it- she lived under a literal rock. She's also becoming fiercer. I suppose it's good since we're prisoners, but still... I don't like it."
Clay was so sweet, and it made Peril sad how much he was changing. For a brief instant, Peril began to wonder if he was being tampered with using magic or something, before shaking that thought off. If someone was tampering with her, though, would she notice? If she found out that what was causing this was a dragon, something would die a crispy death.
Something strange was going on, and Peril saw it faintly in the distance. She realized that one dragon might be able to give her answers: Nightflame. She gave a start when she realized that Clay was staring at her. "I'm sorry- I zoned out. Did you say something?" Peril asked.
"Don't worry," Clay said. "I'd zone out too if I was listening to myself. I just asked what you're going to do next."
"Well, it's been nice talking to you," Peril said. "But it's time that I pay a visit that NightWing."
Hey everyone! It's me again! And no, the second chapter wasn't important. I skipped a couple things that were boring, at least for the current POV. It should change soon, though! Good bye for now, ... I suppose you already know my name, haha.
