Back in Empires, Grian was still seen as suspicious by most of the rulers, but he was their only lead on Gem.
"G... Why are you in watcher form?" Pearl asks suddenly.
"..." Grian stays silent.
" ̇/ᒷꖎᑑ⚍ᔑ." Pearl says sternly. "Why are you in watcher form." Pearl restates the question as more of a demand.
"I... I felt something... Off... And I knew it was about Gem... So... I figured this would be the best way... To... Figure out what was wrong... And fix it..." Grian says nervously, wings trying to hide.
Pearl sighs "G... You don't need to be ashamed. I was just worried. I'm your sister, I care about you." Pearl cups Grians face with her hands and looks at him lovingly, "I could never truly hate you. You're the best brother I could ever have in my life, even if you were gone for most of it. I love you." Grian seems to melt at these words as he starts to tear up. He cries and hugs Pearl tightly.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I couldn't be there..." He says.
"Don't apologize for something you had no control over." Pearl firmly states in reassurance. "It's not your fault."
"Thanks..." Grian whispers "you gonna introduce me to your friends?" he asks.
Pearl giggles "Alright, alright. So guys! This is my brother Grian. Grian, these are my friends. You already know Jimmy... So why don't the rest of you introduce yourselves?"
"Okay... Well I'm LDShadowLady Elizabeth of the Ocean Empire but people just call me Lizzie."
"How could I not know about the oceans new goddess?" Grian asks, shocking everyone. "Watchers keep an eye on things..." pause... "Pun intended." He says with a smirk.
"Well... I'm Shrub the gnome! Guardian of the undergrove!"
"Ah... The new wolf spirit." Grian says.
"I KNEW IT!" Katherine exclaims. "You were too obvious about it really. I'm Katherine Elizabeth! Protector of House Blossom, and ruler of the Overgrown."
"I can smell the council of cats." Grian laughs "Tell them Xelqua says hi."
"I'm Pixlriffs. King of Pixandria."
"I can see the weight on your shoulders." Grian says solemnly. "Keeping track of deaths must be difficult..."
"I'm SmallishBeans Joel. King of Mezalia."

"Gems twin brother... She speaks fondly of you." Grian says with a smile.
