The creature turned to Lieutenant Dan and threw him into the freezing water. Then, it looked at Alana and said, "Hello, Alana," in a dry voice. His voice was tremendously deep and dry -- as if he had never touched water.

"I supposed you've met my wicked wife," the creature continued.

"What do you mean? How do you know me?" Alana prudently asked.

"Oh, that woman didn't tell you about me?"

            "Who are you?"

"The King, darling. Oh! Of course! She didn't write about me in her diary. You know, she was exceptionally iniquitous. She didn't even become slightly apologetic when I had her buried alive."

            "You're the king?"

"Yes. Navatheas wasn't wealthy like what she said in her book. I needed to make a deal to make ends meet."

"Who did you make a deal with?"

As the two continued to talk, Lewis rescued the injured members and escorted them back to GEA.

"With Plutus. I first begged -- 'ANYONE UP THERE, ARE YOU LISTENING? PLEASE MAKE MY KINGDOM AS WEALTHY AS OLYMPUS, AS RICH AS THE GODS! ' Then, a man with prodigal jewelry appeared in front of the mirror. I couldn't see his face, but he could talk. He did not want me to see it. He said he was Plutus, the God of Wealth. He said he could make my kingdom wealthier than the earlier kingdoms. But before I could accept the offer, he said he needed my wife's soul -- the Queen."

Alana learned the truth about Navatheas as she listened to the King's story.

"I accepted it," the King had said before he manically laughed. "Nothing is free. My love's smile gradually faded from her face. She seemed to become more attached to the wealth I had toiled for. She slowly became wicked. My love trapped me in an underground cellar; no food but the rats, no water but the tainted waters of the town's sewers, and no remorse. I cried for help again. This time, a black shadow appeared. It was Hades. He manipulated me into taking revenge on my wife. He gave me these powers I do not know of in exchange for my soul. Vengeance engulfed me. So I did what I had to do. I shared the curse with my love and buried her alive. Now I spent my nights lonely inside the caverns of Navatheas, alone. Would you be my wife, Alana? Together, we could be against everything, even the Gods.
