Chapter 12: Welcome Home

2 Months Later

         Alana went on a vacation with Lewis in Hawaii. They wanted to rest from all the trouble. Alana sat on a chair, sunbathing, while Lewis swam in the clear waters. The water was shimmering blue. Sea life washed ashore. Starfish stuck to the moist rocks. It was like a dream as everything had been perfect.

         "You should take a dip," Lewis said.

          "I like my tan."

          "Your feet are underwater. Do you want me to drag you?"

          "No . . . my juice would spill."

          "We can buy another one."

           "Fine. I'll make a big splash," Alana said before she jumped into the water.

           "This is fun, Lewis."

           "It is. Do you want to play beach volleyball?"

            "Sure," Alana had said before she and Lewis stopped swimming.

            The couple gleefully played the sport. The sand was scattered everywhere. Lewis and Alana smiled until their cheeks would rip off their faces. It was a coveted juncture.
