I smile at the two blondes

I smile at the two blondes. Steve has been sharing every embarrassing story he can think of and Ev is eating it up. She hasn't stopped laughing but I'm definitely not complaining, I love the sound. She's leaning back against me, my arm around her, while listening intently to Steve's new story.

"I appreciate all of these stories. It will definitely be of use one day." She giggles. I playfully glare at her but she only smiles then kisses me softly. "If you'll excuse me, I need to use the ladies room." I slide out of the booth, allowing her to get out. I watch her as she walks away, specifically her ass. She's got a nice ass, sue me!

"So what do you think?" I ask my best friend.

"She's great! Beautiful. Not sure why she's with you though."

"I ask myself that everyday." I admit. "I'm going to marry her, Steve. She's it."

"Have you told her you're enlisting?" He asks.

"She knows. Wasn't happy about it but understands. I am going to marry her before I get shipped off to God knows where."

"Have you even gotten a ring?" I reach into my pocket and pull out the small black box.

"Got it the day after I asked her to go steady with me. I love her, man. I've never felt this before." He opens the box and nods in approval. It's nothing magnificent, just a simple diamond, but once I have enough money I'm going to get her a rock. She deserves the best.

"And how do you plan asking her?"

"Take her on a picnic in the sunflower fields. It's her favorite place."

"I'm happy for you man. You deserve this." He hands me the box and I slip it back in my pocket. Definitely don't want her seeing. I hear the bathroom door shut and immediately look, watching her walk out. Damn she's beautiful. I notice a little discomfort on her face, making me confused.

"What's wrong?" I whisper to her once she sits.

"Oh nothing I'm ok." She gives me a small smile but I know it's fake.

"Tell me."

"I'm just not feeling well." She admits.

"Then let's go. Steve, we'll catch you later." I announce and stand out of the booth.

"Yea sure. Everything ok?" I throw a $20 on the table and take Ev's purse from her.

"Yea, everything's ok. I'll come by tomorrow." I state.

"Ok. It was nice meeting you Eva." He stands and follows us outside.

"You too, Steve. I'm sorry to cut this short."

"Don't be. We'll see each other more. Have a good night." She kisses his cheek and he blushes.

"Hey, she's mine." I playfully pout and pull her against me.
