I feel her head rest on my shoulder so I know she's fallen asleep. I have no idea where we are, I'm just following Steve. "So she told you?" I ask, breaking the silence.
"After scaring the shit out of me, Stark, and the Commander." I chuckle. Sounds like her. "I wish she would've told me sooner." He admits.
"Don't take it to heart. I'm the only one that knew. We don't want people getting wind of her because they'll want to experiment on her." I explain.
"I think everyone is too scared of her now. I see why you love her." I smile. "Does she really not know who or what she is?" He asks.
"She didn't before today. I mean, there's still so many questions." He nods in agreement. We don't even know if Red Skull was telling the truth. I'm hoping we can find answers to put her at ease.

I can see the base up ahead. Eva woke up half an hour ago and is now walking next to me, hand laced with mine. She's been quiet so I know her mind is racing. I wish I could ease her mind. But I know I won't be able to until she gets answers.
We walk through the camp gates, greeted by all of the soldiers. A woman walks up to us, a playful glare on her face.
"Some of these men need medical attention." Steve tells Phillips. "I'd like to turn myself in for disciplinary action." Phillips scoffs and shakes his head.
"That won't be necessary."
"Yes sir." Phillips turns to Eva.
"You and I need to have a conversation." He says.
"Later." He nods and walks off.
"You're late." She smirks up at Steve. Someone has a crush.
"Couldn't call my ride." He holds up the damaged transmitter.
"Hey! Let's here it for Captain America!" I yell. I purposefully leave Eva out of it so no one questions her. They all start cheering, slapping Steve on the shoulder. I feel Eva pull on my arm so I look over at her.
"We need to get you looked at." I simply nod and follow her out of the crowd, into the nurse tent. "What did they do to you?" She asks.
"I-I... I don't know." I admit. Everything is blurry. I barely remember her finding me. She grabs a cloth and wets it then starts cleaning my face.
"Does anything hurt?" She asks.
"No, I think I'm ok." She wipes my face clean then grabs some supplies before motioning me to follow her. "Baby... we need to talk." I sigh. She ignores me and just keeps walking. "Darlin." We walk into a tent and she sets the supplies down.
"Just... just let me make sure you're ok first. Please." She begs. I nod and walk closer to her, taking a seat on the chair. "Take your shirt off." I remove the shirt and throw it to the side. Her eyes trail all over my chest, inspecting for any cuts or bruises. "Pants." I kick my shoes off then stand to remove my pants. "Turn." I turn around, letting her look at my back.
"I don't see anything. Why did they have you strapped down?" Her hands start wandering along my body.
"I don't know. I don't remember them doing anything." Her hands reach my arms and she turns me around.
"They injected you with something." She says as her fingers trace over the small hole.
"I mean I don't feel any different. Guess whatever it was didn't work." She sighs heavily. "Baby." I wrap my arms around her waist and draw her closer.
"I thought you were dead." She whispers, her bottom lip trembling.
"I'm not. I'm right here." I hug her tightly. Her lips kiss my skin and I sigh in content. "Come shower with me?" She nods and I lead her into the small bathroom.
We stand under the water, holding each other. I never want to let her go. The few months away from her have been hell. I haven't slept and I feel like a zombie most days. Everyday I look at that compass and kiss it. Her picture it also in my helmet too.
After a few minutes, we get out and dry each other off. I hand her a shirt and slip on some underwear. There's a small bed but if she sleeps on top of me, we can fit.
I lay down and she follows. "I've missed this." I admit.
"Me too. I haven't been able to sleep well."
"Me either." I kiss her softly.
"Do you think he was telling the truth?" She asks.
"I don't know. But we will figure it out." She let's out a shaky breath. "Talk to me." I tuck some of her hair behind her ear.
"People know I'm different now. What if they try to take me?" She whispers.
"I won't let that happen." I sigh. "But I do wish you wouldn't have come..." I admit. She makes a face, like she can't believe I just said that.
"James, you're my husband. I wasn't going to sit on my ass while Steve went to find you. I will risk my life to save yours. Always." I can't help but smile.
"I love you, sunflower."
"I love you, ass pain." I chuckle as she snuggles against me, her face buried in my neck. "Don't ever leave me." She whispers.
"I won't."

The next morning, she goes to speak with Phillips, leaving me in the tent. I walk to the warehouse, finding Steve and Peggy. They're talking about the locations of hydra camps, plotting them on the map.
"They shipped all the parts to a warehouse that wasn't on the map." I comment.
"Agent Carter, coordinate with MI6. I want every Allied eyeball looking for that main Hydra base." Phillips says. I walk over to my wife, wrapping my arm around her waist.
"Did everything go ok?" I ask. She nods but gives me nothing else so I know that means we'll talk later.
"What about us?" Steve asks.
"We are going to set a fire under Johann Schmidt's ass. What do you say, Rogers? It's your map. You think you can wipe Hydra off it?"
"Yes sir. I'll need a team." He says.
"We're already putting together the best men." Phillips responds.
"With all due respect, sir, so am I."
