Come Monday, I really didn't feel up for school.

I still felt sick to my stomach, anything my father gave me to eat making my stomach churn like crazy. I hugged my blankets around me tightly, shivering slightly as I continued watching the snow fall outside the window.

I heard the doorbell ring downstairs and I groaned as I pulled the blankets tighter around myself. I got up from my seat as the bell rang again and I narrowed my eyes slightly.

"Damn it! I'm coming!" I yelled out as I hurried towards the stairs to get to the door.

I winced as I reached the bottom of the stairs and looked at the door. I could just make out the shape of a person standing on the other side of the door and I narrowed my eyes when I reached the door, preparing myself to give the person a piece of my mind. I grasped the handle before pausing as my skin began to tingle and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.

I swallowed heavily as I stayed where I was, gripping the handle tightly before I glanced upwards. I bit down on my lip before I hugged the blankets tighter around myself, opening the door just enough to see who was on the other side of the door.

I could see Jasper standing there, a bouquet of what looked like a very dark red roses. I scowled at him, glad that there was a security door between me and him and it was locked.

"How in the world...Did you find out where I live, Jasper?" I asked him, coughing once before I waited for him to reply.

"Your friend...Um...Laura I think her name was. She gave it to me after I asked her politely," he replied and I scoffed at him.

"Yeah. Right. Laura would never do that to me," I said as I looked away from him and then back again.

"It's true!" he exclaimed and I crossed my arms, holding the blankets in my hands tightly.

"Uh-huh. Really? What else did she do then, Jasper? Because I'm pretty sure that Laura was doing her best to avoid you like I had been," I snapped at him and I saw his eyes flash a moment before he took in a deep breath.

"Alright. Fine. I forced it out of her. Happy now?" he asked, his tone showing that his anger was just simmering below the surface now.

"No. But thank you for telling me anyway..." I said before I frowned. "Why are you here, Jasper?" I asked him, looking from the roses to his face once more.

He seemed to pause here, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He looked like he was trying to find the right words to say. I watched him, my eyes wandering over his face as I waited for his reply. He sighed finally before he looked up at me and I froze as his eyes seemed to find mine, even through the security door.

His gaze held mine as he stared at me and I stared back. I couldn't help it. We both remained silent before I swallowed heavily, tightening my grip on the blankets as if they could protect me from the onslaught of his gaze.
