"Chrissy Cunningham?" Dustin scoffed in exclamation.Ruby threw her head back in exasperation at the boy's response. The memories of Chrissy's limp body on the floor were flung about her mind in a whirlwind and she wanted to do anything but talk to Max's friend. After a brief introduction to a boy named 'Dustin Henderson' who Ruby recognised as the boy who sat on the steps beside her at the Snowball back in middle school. She remembered Nancy Wheeler taking his hand and leading him onto the floor, wishing the older girl was taking her hand and not his.
"You're sure it was Chrissy?" Dustin repeated.
"I think I'd recognise my dead friend on the floor yes," Ruby scoffed to which Dustin pulled a face back at her.
"Why are you even here?" he spoke accusingly.
"Would you two just shut up," Max shook her head, wide eyed in annoyance. "Yes it was her, in her cheerleader outfit. Same thing she was in when we saw her with Eddie."
"Did you tell all this to the cops?" Dustin asked as Ruby sat herself down on the couch and placed her head in her hands.
"No. No, but we can't be the only ones who saw them together, I mean they stood out," Max paced around Dustin's bedroom as the pair began to circle each other.
"Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Dustin replied in a bewildered tone.
"Exactly. You know, his name's not in the news yet or anything, but I guarantee you Eddie is suspect one right now," Max nodded.
"Yeah you don't exactly get off scot free if you're the last person to see her alive," Ruby scoffed as she tried to ignore the pounding headache that was wrecking her brain. She was still dressed in Max's top as well as a pair of her jeans, she couldn't bear to change back into her clothes that Chrissy's head had lain against. Chrissy who wouldn't lay her head on her shoulder ever again.
"That's crazy. Eddie didn't do this. No way. No way!" Dustin repeated angrily.
"Well we can't rule it out," Max placed herself down next to Ruby on the couch.
"Yes, we can!" Dustin replied.
"No we can't are you kidding me?" Ruby laughed furiously. "You don't just rule out a suspect because they're your friend. This is murder!"
"You two don't know him like I do. Okay? When we got to high school, Lucas made all his sports friends. Mike and me? I mean, no one was nice to us. No one except Eddie."
"Okay. Well, they said the same shit about Ted Bundy. Yeah, he's a super nice guy, but then he's murdering women on the weekend," Max stood up rapidly and gestured her hands wildly.
"Max what the fuck," Ruby furrowed her brow as she tried to make sense of the redheaded girls analogy.
"So you're saying Eddie is like Ted Bundy?" Dustin exclaimed.
"No, I'm not saying... I'm saying that we can't presume anything, okay? But it doesn't look good for Eddie," Max threw her hands to her head.
"Why haven't you guys told the cops this?" Dustin asked.
"Yeah Max, why haven't we?" Ruby furrowed her brow again. "If this guy's a murderer then-" the girl was cutoff by Max speaking again.
"I... I don't know."
"You don't know?" Dustin shook his head in confusion.
"After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go in the trailer... something else happened. I was watching TV when Ruby was asleep and the static started glitching out. Then so did the electricity. Eddie left his place in his van in a total rush just a little while later," Max raised her eyebrows at the word electricity and Dustin sat a little straighter. Ruby was simply in a state of confusion.
