It's been a week since the shooting, and Rodriguez was well enough to go home. He could walk and jog a little. He's invincible, I swear. He said it hurts to breathe, but it doesn't matter to me if he's alive. So why did everyone fight for me? It's weird, but Rodriguez has been trying to avoid Ruth and Daniel for some time now. He's also acting very suspiciously. I saw Ruth approaching.
"Hey, Rodriguez, wanna get in some target practice?" she asked him. He didn't even look at her.
"No," he said, not after what just happened.
"Oh, that's too bad," she said, "What about you, Sam?" Of course, I wanted to, but I also didn't want to leave Rodriguez. It was almost as if he had read my mind.
"Say no, Sam. She's testing your trust for her," he said.
Testing my trust?
"What are you talking about? I want to have fun. But, Sam, don't let him decide for you," Ruth told me.
"No, that's okay, Ruth. Maybe next time," I said.
"Fine. I'll go ask someone else," Ruth retorted and started to walk away when Rodriguez said something to her.
"You should ask Daniel. He's pretty good with guns."
I noticed that Rodriguez was wearing a ring. He wasn't married.
"I like your ring," I complimented. He looked at it.
"Thanks."
