"How did you do that?"
"What?" David responded, looking up from his Unwind book. He had a look of annoyance since I had interrupted his reading and, judging from the position his hands, legs, and body had been, I was on thin ice. Nevertheless, he seemed patient enough to answer my question if I specified.
"Survive that fight without so much as a scratch." I asked. "D-did you bathe in the River Styx?"
He shook his head.
What the hell?
After that conversation (which lacked any answers whatsoever), David made everyone but me, Lizzy and Abby practice an ability that they should be able to use because of their godly parent, while he put down his Unwind book and picked up a book called Allegiant.
We decided to see the brand new Transformers movie (which sucked ass) and when we got back everyone seemed to be yelling at David about something, but he wasn't listening. I could tell he was incredibly engrossed in that book because he wasn't blinking, as if what arrangements of our twenty-six letters the author had made were so mesmerizing that he didn't even want to close his eyes for a second. They continued yelling at David until they realized that he wasn't paying attention. What made them finally get it? He started to snore.
David woke up a few hours later and Dylan gave him a flyer, which David quickly read.
"What is it?" Jamie asked.
"It is another tournament here in Madison that I must attend."
"I think I'll compete this time." Lizzy said.
"Me too!" Jamie said quickly, then blushed when David looked at her.
David looked at me, Ashley, Dylan and Abby."What about you guys?"
"Nah." we all said in unison. David nodded and looked at the flyer again.
"When's the tournament?" Lizzy asked.
"In about five hours." David said. "Then let's go." Ashley said and David nodded and we all immediately started flying to the site in Madison.
They let us all in when we got there and David, Lizzy and Jamie registered and David "convinced" the workers to let me view the fights the way the fighters would. It goes without saying that Jamie, David and Lizzy got in and soon they had to draw. Jamie got 4, David got 2, and Lizzy got 16. Jamie's opponent was an mixed guy named Austin. The strange thing was that he looked a little like Jamie. That and that facts that Jamie seemed scared when she saw that she would be fighting him and David seemed to know him as well. David's opponent was a white guy named Josh wearing a jacket and shorts.
Lizzy's opponent was a girl named Cassidy who wore just a red dress. The tournament started after Justin gave the rules and then called David and Josh to the ring. They both walked to the ring and took their sides. Josh had a gleam of excitement in his eyes while David only had a look of apathy.
"This is the start of the first round." Justin announced. "Begin."
Josh charged and attempted to attack David, who simply flipped Josh over him and kicked Josh onto the grass, leaving some people wondering how that happened.
"Um, out of bounds." Justin said. "David wins."
David walked back to the tournament house and Justin called Jamie and Austin to the ring. David watched Jamie walk up there with concern and watched Austin with a look that seemed like he was prepared to get furious. Ok, seriously. How many secrets and stories do these people have that I have to find out about? At this point, they were basically the embodiment of S.H.I.E.L.D and Nick Fury. Their secrets had secrets. And those secrets had secrets. And under those secrets were even more.
