The group and I were stuck in the auditorium as one of the professors were giving a speech about some event. Honestly, my ADD brain didn't care and neither did I. Nor did David. We were having conversations over hers, though we were whispering. I always loved David's stories (though they weren't exactly "his", they were typically things he had heard from games, TV shows, movies, etc that he liked and would, on occasion, add his own thing to).
Right now he was talking about watching Dylan play Batman: Arkham City. I'll give you some context. Dylan was in Predator Mode in the game, where he was up against multiple armed enemies and had to take them all out one by one.
"So only two of the original fifteen remained and Detective Mode was saying they were terrified." he was saying. "I yelled at the henchmen over the Riddler, 'Come on, guys, he is just one man.'" he paused for a moment, then spoke so fast I barely caught what he was saying. "'One-man-dressed-like-a-lunatic-bat-and-armed-to-the-teeth'." he quietly giggled manically, which made me go back a little, eyes wide from the creepiness. "Go get him."
I stifled laughter.
"At the very beginning of the map, I warned Dyl, 'Do not underestimate them.'" I looked at him, not expecting such a statement. Still, I had heard enough of his stories to be genre savvy enough to have an idea of what to come. "'They look like idiots, dress like idiots, and talk like idiots, but do not let that fool you. They really are idiots."
I put my hand over my mouth as I began giggling.
David went on to explain how he was when he played in the Predator Mode. The David that was being described to be was not like the David I knew. That one was sadistic. That one took enjoyment out of hearing the overconfident promises that the mooks would make slowly turn into terrified squirming and begs for mercy. He said he liked to draw out taking the last one out as the final one would typically spin around and shoot at the slightest of sounds, like generators.
"Jesus, David," I said, "Have you any soul?"
He picked up my jest and smiled. "No, ma'am," he replied, "By the way, what the hell are morals?"
"Connelly! Reeves! Will you pay attention?!"
We immediately shut up and started listening to what Professor Juno Grady, head of the Odin house, was saying.
The houses of Poseidon, Thor, Odin, Zeus, and Hades had gathered in the Odin common room. The other heads of house were all in the back, watching us. Professor Ori, Professor Sean Campbell (head of Hades house), Professor Hailey Xiong (head of Zeus house), and Professor Julius Cohen (head of Poseidon house) all were just watching their respective houses. Well, except Ori. He was watching every house except his own.
Professor Grady was in the center of the room, while we all were sitting on extremely long and large couches. She was wearing a velvet red dress and red high heels. Her blondish white hair was styled into a bun that was probably the height of fashion during the Dark Ages. Normally she looked like someone who was over 5 million years old, with wrinkles and everything. But today, she looked like she was no older than 26. Her normally pale white skin now had a healthy light tan to it and her wrinkles had been destroyed by some type of medicine. She even pulled off the velvet dress.
"Now that the Reeves twins and Connelly have been kind enough to act their age." she said, with an irritated look at us. "I have something to say to you all.
"The Temsik dance is approaching. Now, it is only open to fifth years and above -- however, if you choose you may bring a younger student with you."
Felicia Guthrie and Gwenore Seeley both let out giggles, then looked around at David, who didn't seem to notice them. Professor Grady ignored them, which I thought wasn't fair, since she told off me and the "Reeves twins".
