With just the name Tig and Happy made their way back to the clubhouse but not before making a stop at Charming Sheriff's station. Tig was against it, knowing it was a volatile situation at best, but Happy charged in anyway.
"Let me talk to Roosevelt." He grumbled with an intense gaze toward the receptionist.
The poor woman's fingers fumbled as she called back to Eli's office, Happy's presence alone was unsettling without his dark eyes locked onto her.
"He'll be right out," she mumbled without meeting his gaze.
Happy looked out the glass double doors and nodded at Tig who was shocked to see such a calm reaction from Happy as well as the young woman. Watching as Roosevelt strutted out, standing tall and confident, Tig rolled his eyes and thanked the heavens he was not the one who had to deal with that.
"What can I do for you Mr. Lowman?"
"I want to see Rory. I know you don't have visitation but I gotta ask."
Roosevelt shook his head and pointed behind Happy where Lowen was moving swiftly from lockup. "She'll have her bail hearing next week but for now you can talk to her attorney."
"Just the man I wanted to see." Lowen smiled politely as she and Happy moved together toward the front door. "Don't push it," she warned as he looked back at a smiling Roosevelt. "You'll make it worse for her and your daughter."
Lowen agreed to head back to the clubhouse where they could talk with much more privacy. Tig worked on calling the few members who weren't around as Lowen and Happy sat on the couch.
"How is she?" He asked before she could even speak.
"Scared," Lowen admitted. "She's thinking drastically and her ideas are dangerous. I'll do what I can but I can't keep her from doing what she feels she has to."
Never in her years as a criminal defense attorney had Lowen felt the need to steer a client away from making a deal. This situation was far too dangerous though.
"Shit," Happy hissed and threw his head back in frustration. "What's she saying?"
"She wants to make a deal, not for you guys, whoever she's worked for though." Lowen spoke softly, worrying what the others might think of the news. "She said she can't have her kids in Charming without her. She thinks it's too risky."
He nodded, not surprised she'd think that and in a way agreeing with the sentiment. "Looks like I gotta get her out before then, just to keep her ass alive. In jail she's dead and if she makes a deal, I can't be sure she won't go missing."
"That's why I came to you." From her briefcase, Lowen pulled out the case file. "Right now, it's just assault and battery. Some accident a while back, the vic saw Parker's mugshot and came to the station, picked her picture out and said she was there with Parker."
"Who?" Happy was excited now, eager to shed some blood to ease his own internal rage and save his old lady. "Give me this fucker's address, she'll be out my tomorrow morning."
Lowen sighed and covered her face. "I can't do that. There are ways you can find out but not through me. I'm sorry."
"No, I get it. Thank you. This is enough. I can work with this."
As she saw herself out, Lowen watched Happy instructed Juice on his next tasks. Number one priority was finding the name of the man pressing charges and next, not much lower, was gathering everything he could on Ethan Zobelle.
Being promised a quick result, Happy waited outside under the awning with a beer and a cigarette. He'd done time, not one second of it he spent afraid although he knew that it wasn't an uncommon feeling. Even if he wanted to, Happy was unable to imagine Rory's fear especially being pregnant.
Lost in those torturous thoughts, the sound of heels clicking in his direction went unnoticed. Jenna moved slowly, a shy, flirty smile on her lips, and joined Happy by the line of picnic tables.
"Hey."
His eyes flicked up and Happy's usually unamused expression grew darker. "What?"
Nonplussed, Jenna kept her lips turned into a cheerful smile hoping to soften his mood. "I heard about what happened to...her," she said awkwardly. "I'm just offering some comfort, in whatever way you might need. I could cook you and your daughter dinner and you know, stick around for something extra once she's in bed."
"Are you fucking serious?" With a strong, stiff arm against Jenna's chest, Happy crushed against the side of the building. "Stay away from my family and my club. You ain't playing old lady or mommy, bitch. You were a goddamn mistake."
Jenna shrieked, clawing at Happy, until he released her and spit at her feet. "Jesus," she coughed out. "I'm trying to help you, I wanna be good to you!"
"Get her out of here!" Clay ordered Rat, who dutifully, but gently, led Jenna back to her car. "What are you doing?" Clay asked with a rough shove. "You can't go assaulting women out in the open like that. Luann is gonna shit all over us now."
"Sorry, Prez," Happy shook his head but he was feeling far from apologetic. "I lost it."
"You need to get your head right. Get your dick sucked or get messy." Bobby stepped between the two men to calm the flaring tempers.
"I got something he can get messy with." Juice piped in excitedly. "Got your guy, Hap, address and picture."
"Get on it, guys." Clay pointed to Tig who had filled him in on the current situation. "You watch his back."
