Akira pulled the tomato from the vine with minimal force and ran her finger over the glossy skin admiringly. Yuma's tomatoes were always too pretty.
"Hey, Sow."
"Hm?" Akira dropped the fruit into the basket.
"That Sakamaki NEET." Yuma kept his eyes solely on the tomatoes.
"NEET?" Akira murmured, although she had a feeling she knew who Yuma was referring to already.
"You know, the one who's sleeping all the time."
"Shu? He's the eldest. His name is Sakamaki Shu."
Yuma glared at her. "Tch. Do you think I'm stupid? You're not very perceptive, are you?" He stood and advanced, bending down to flick her forehead. "Is there a brain in that little head of yours? I'm asking what kind of guy he is." Akira rubbed her forehead, lowering her gaze. The part of her brain convinced Yuma was Edgar was practically foaming at the mouth. Akira schooled her expression and pretended to think, as if she was the Bride who only knew Shu for his fangs. "Umm. He doesn't speak much, and he listens to music most of the time, I guess...and he sleeps a lot too. Anywhere and everywhere."
Akira's lip twitched as she thought fondly of her lazy elder brother.
He talked a lot more when Edgar was around, though...
"Um, Yuma..." Akira began. "Sheesh. He really is a NEET." Yuma muttered without hearing her and walked off.
"Any sign of the Awakening?" Ruki gazed out the window, where Akira was watering the flowers after Yuma left. They all watched silently as she dutifully carried the yield into the house as Yuma had instructed.
"No." Kou shook his head.
"Me...neither..." Asuza stared at the floor regretfully.
"It's coming on a little slow, don't you think? With all the blood we've been taking..." Yuma trailed off. His eyes were fixed on the garden below. "Tch. She's doing it all wrong," he muttered as Akira fumbled with the garden hose.
"Hm. He gave us an opportunity. We must fulfill it as he wished," Ruki pointed out. "If it comes to it, we must take the Dawn as well. She will be able to trigger the Eve."
"...the Sakamaki's...sister?"
Ruki nodded. "Yes."
