"Richter, huh?"
Reiji gazed at Kino with calculating interest. "I wonder what the old geezer is up to now..."
"There is something else I might add." Kino interjected. Shu gazed out the window. "The full moon..."
"What about it?" Subaru sapped. Everyone was getting restless.
"It's an eclipse this time." Akira murmured, remembering the calendar. "Where it happened simultaneously in both this realm and the other."
"Our powers will be greatly weakened then." Kanato gripped Teddy.
"We should be prepared. The Impures under father's charge could do anything at anytime."
Akira steeled herself, before knocking on the door of Reiji's study.
"Come in."
She stepped in and stopped before her brother, mixing glowing substances under the consultation of one of his ancient leather-bound alchemy books.
"Can I help you?" Reiji left the test tubes in their stands, where they bubbled and fizzled. Akira shifted on her feet. "I want to...ask you something." Reiji's eyes glinted with anticipation.
"What is the purpose of my existence? As the Dawn."
Reiji inclined his head. "Why do you wish to know?"
Akira clenched her fists. "I...I want to know more about myself and what I am capable of. I want to use my ability to help people." Her brother braked out a very un-gentlemanly laugh. "Help people?" Akira borrowed her eyes. "Yes."
"Th only way you can truly help, is to be docil and good. Let your future mates claim you and use you for their purposes." He staked up to her and grabbed her wrist. Akira allowed him to bite into the vein, a payment for his answers.
"My mates..." Akira whispered.
"The males who will guide you in this life. You are theirs, as much as you are ours."
Akira's eyes widened. "You—and the rest...?"
"It is what draws us to you and your blood," he told her, still grasping her wrist. "The Pureblood Sakamakis, the Founder Tsukinamis, and the Impure Mukamis." Akira could barely process all the information as Reiji's hot mouth sealed over her skin once more.
"I—Why were the Mukamis going after Yui if the Dawn was what they really needed?" Akira winced as his fangs dug painfully into the wound. Reiji spared her a glance. "You don't need to know. But I can tell you one thing..."
"It's all because of this blood. Your scent as all over Yui, so they probably assumed she was the one." He lapped up the stream of blood oozing down her forearm. "The sweet scent and the richness of it drives everyone insane..."
