rina's exhaustion overwhelmed her as she let out a tired sigh, her body sprawled across the couch. a whirlwind of thoughts occupied her mind. while mark and haechan were still busy with their school stuff, rina had decided to head home alone using a taxi. changing into comfortable home attire, she made her way downstairs.
her gaze wandered to the pictures that hung on the brick walls, drawing her attention to a framed picture of baby mark. the sight of his adorable innocence made her smile, he looked like a cute cub. ayyo why was she suddenly associating animals to people? first jeno, and now mark??
mrs. lee had yet to return home, leaving the atmosphere devoid of her comforting presence.
glancing at her phone, she noted that the afternoon still stretched ahead of her, offering a canvas of possibilities. with a spark of inspiration, rina felt like dancing.
taking a moment to prepare herself, she stretched her limbs, feeling the tension melt away as her body awakened. gathering her lustrous orange locks, she skillfully fashioned them into a tousled bun with a rubber band and some bobby pins she had in her pocket, readying herself for the impromptu performance that awaited.
choosing giselle, a renowned romantic ballet composed by the french maestro adolphe adam, she longed to immerse herself in its haunting melodies in the lee's living room.
rina's heart swelled with familiarity.
her movements mirrored the delicate grace of the ballet. the music guided her, as if invisible hands gently lifted her and carried her across an imaginary stage. with each pirouette and arched leap, she channeled their timeless sorrow, allowing her body to become an instrument for their silent tales. as perspiration coated her body, she decided to shed her shirt, allowing the air to cool her overheated skin.
however, her energy reached its limits, causing her to collapse onto the floor, eyes heavy with exhaustion.
"don't you think it's a bit inappropriate to wander around someone's house dressed in such skimpy clothing? i'm still a man you know?" mark's words sliced through the music.
he noticed the discarded clothing scattered on the tiled floor.
feeling exposed and vulnerable, rina instinctively covered her chest, abruptly halting the music. skimpy? she glanced down at her attire—a cute bralette paired with grey sweatpants—her face flushing with embarrassment. "i'm sorry," she stammered, her head bowed in shame. "i thought you would be home later. i shouldn't have been this careless."
mark picked up the shirt from the floor and walked to rina.
she hastily reached for her shirt, swiftly concealing her slender frame.
mark clears his throat, "uhhh– haechan will be home later, he's with jeno and renjun."
"i will be in my room if you need anything, there's food in the fridge if you're hungry."
rina nods at him.

mark played piano in his room to clear his mind, his playing was more rugged, indicating his frustration and confusion. earlier, he was so entranced by the dancing girl that he forgot to lock the front door. this was so out of character for him; he was supposed to hate the girl, not admire her. but his focus remained firmly fixed on rina, and the sheer ardor with which she devoted herself to the art of dancing drew him in.
up until this point, mark had never truly understood rina's talent for ballet. he developed a sudden? admiration for her as he watched her dance so effortlessly. every movement she made and every part of her body was infused with sincere devotion and honest emotion. her motions and the music blended together to create an otherworldly atmosphere that piqued mark's interest.
he was so consumed in the moment before rina fell to the floor in exhaustion.
he continued to vividly recall her dancing in his thoughts.
he cursed under his breath.
his fingers pressed the piano keys–the tempo accelerating–and rina could discern the heightened intensity of his playing from the other room.
she insidiously invaded his thoughts, her presence seeping into the deepest recesses of his mind, and he despised the intrusion.
she infiltrated his mind, he hated it.

dinner had already been eaten privately in each of their rooms, and a faint whiff of the meal could still be detected. the enormous home was wrapped in a solitary quiet due to mrs. lee's absence, which was caused by an additional work shift in the company.
mark closed his eyes and took a short nap. as the hours grew later, the darkness of night fell upon the mansion.
haechan had just texted rina that he will be home late when rina heard a slight creak, her ears perked up at the sound. the sound of the door opening broke the silence. she turned to face the glass walls with a flood of uneasiness rushing through her veins. "something's not right", she mumbled.
reflected in the glass, an unfamiliar figure dressed entirely in black stood near the balcony, carefully intruding the house. the realization struck rina with an unsettling fear—the intruder had deduced that only a girl was home because of the pair of sandals that was on the welcome mat, making her an easy target for his malicious intentions. it became evident that this was not a mere chance encounter; he had come to violate the sanctity of the house and rob its inhabitants.
