Rána stood in the middle of the courtyard. She was staring at the black board with both her eyes so hard, they might just fall out.
"You are okay?", asked someone next to her. When the young lady turned around, she saw Wilwarin walking towards her, followed by the two Hobbiton girls and Elrawien.
Some of the students would keep calling them the "Middle-Earth-squad" all the time, just to make fun of the fact that they were true friends.
Well, one of them was missing. Indiriël, daughter of the Elvenking Thranduil, might have gotten into some bitter trouble again.
Rána only shook her head and turned back around. The girl had trembling hands, but it was rather fear than excitement.
By the look in her eyes, her friends had a vague idea what all this could eventually be about.
"It's not about Peter, right, Ra?", asked Syllfinelle. Silverpetal's eyes were big like little bulbs.
"Peter", whispered she silently, staring to the ground, as if she would love to take a possibility of just vanishing into it and never coming back.
"It definetely is about Peter", Elra said and clicked with her tongue. Wilwarin whirled around to look at her, rather surprised. "What could the black board have to got with Peter Pevensie? I mean.... Seriously. That board cannot open her any chances to get her dreamboy."
Ra shook her head. To proove the opposite, she easily stepped aside. Now, the Middle-Earth girls had a clear view onto the red paper in the middle of the board.
When they turned back around, their faces looked like Rána's. Maybe even worse.
Wilwarin's blue eyes flickered. "I am not sure about that", she whispered an ran her fingers through her brown, soft hair.
"Me neither." Rána looked around like a scared deer.
"It's the graduation ball! The date is set, we got to look for our partners!" Someone came by and shouted while running. Ra turned around to sew Rhawen, one of her Narnian friends.
Rána looked sad. "For you, it's already clear whom you would go with."
It was. Rhawen was together with King Edmund of Narnia for a long time already, and they would not miss the chance of visiting the ball together.
"For you, it's as well, isn't it?", Silverpetal asked and looked Rána in the eye. The Elvenlady hesitated. Therefore, all her friends gathered around her. There was chattering and cheering on the courtyard and the sound of chilping birds high in the sky, but it didn't matter to the girls now, for their minds were troubled with something really different.
"It's time to pick up my courage, I guess", muttered Rána, while her head lay on Elra's shoulder.
"It's time to get things sorted out properly, and to find everyone the right ball partner." Her eyes narrowed, she blinked, and suddenly, there was an unexpected determination in her blood.

The opening chapter! Did you like it? I hope so!
If not, please tell me, why. It's seriously really hard to remember all the characters!

Again: I might change the characters a bit.
