Years ago...
The older lady let out a tiredly yawn as she heard someone knocking on the door. She was confused as to why someone would come this late to her orphanage for any omegas or betas that are in need of a place to stay. She slowly opened it to reveal a young boy whom was holding a baby girl. Her eyes widen as she could tell that the young boy was terribly injured.
"You poor things. Come inside." She said in a soft voice, trying not to panic as she wrapped a coat around them before leading them inside.
She shut the door before turning to the young boy whom had no expression on his face. She frowned as she guided him to the living room, making him sit on the comfy sofa before heading to the kitchen to warm up some milk. Once she got back, she noticed that he was fast asleep as he kept his arms around the baby girl. She looked at them in nothing but sadness.
Who would ever leave these kids alone? Especially in this cold weather.
She placed the warm milk on the table softly before she went to the closet and took out a big blanket for him. She covered him up to his chin, hoping that he would like it. Her eyes then went to the baby girl whom was fast asleep despite what had been happening.
"What happened to you..?" She whispered to herself before she sat on the other sofa and shut her eyes for a while.
She wanted to know their story. Why were they out in the cold so late? Where were their parents? So many questions were filled in her head as she slowly fell into a slumber.
After a few house, sunrise had not approached yet that the little boy slowly opened his eyes, feeling nothing but warmth all around him. He eyed his little sister, letting out a deep sigh of relief that she was safe with him. Yet, he started to look around to see himself in a house. A house he didn't know at all. He slowly pulled his arms away from her, as he sat up and looked around to see the older lady that had opened the door for them. She was fast asleep.
He looked around to see it was a nice house. Nothing to expensive. He took the blanket off of him as he slowly stood up, ignoring the pain that he was feeling all over his body. The bruises were visible yet they didn't bother him. He was used to bruises and cuts. He after all, would get into fights all the time. The kids would bully him for many reasons. They called him weird and stupid. He didn't care what they said about him. He never did.
Until one of them decided to say something about his little sister.
That's when he snaps. He is very protective of her. She was everything to him now. All he has is her now.
"You're finally up."
A voice disturbed his thoughts as he turned to the older lady that was slowly waking up.
He nodded as he kept his expression on his face stoic. He never showed much emotion to people. Only to his sister.
"Are you hungry?"
He slowly nodded.
She gave him a smile as she stood up and patted his head which caused him to widen his eyes as he looked at her.
"I'll be making breakfast then. What is your name?"
He didn't know if he should tell her. They were runaways either way. They were strays that didn't belong anywhere. She'd kick them out at some point.
"It's okay. No one is gonna hurt you. It's just me right now. I used to have kids stay here with me most of the time but they are off with their own families." She chuckles happily. "It makes me happy yet sad since I'm all alone again."
