phat's pov
it was storming. school just ended and rain was pouring outside. it wasn't just slight rain, it was almost flooded.
I was in the classroom and I was just looking out of the window, watching as the big droplets of rain fell on the ground, making a soft smacking sound that were made to sound like loud smacks from the many other droplets.
the grey clouds were visible even through the distant trees, the way the colour of the sky became a depressing grey colour and the rain was making the little mountains around look like they were just a part of the sky.
the loud sounds of thunder were the only things I didn't necessarily like. the strikes of thunder that were visible in the town, and the loud banging noises that they left behind made me jump a little every single time. and the strikes of light before any of them.
but it looked beautiful, the way the air looked fogged up, the way the wind was blowing the grass and the plants from outside the school.
I didn't like the thunder, but I loved the rain. it was so peaceful to listen to it fall on the ground and watch as the droplets intensified. I'd always get lost in thought whenever it rained. and right now, I was also lost in thought.
I was thinking about beam.
was he home? it was raining heavily. if he wasn't home he'd get sick. he was probably home. he wasn't that dumb to be out in the rain. right?
I shook my head a little and I took my phone out. I went into my contacts and found beam's. I clicked on it and my phone screen got lit up with my lockscreen wallpaper, beam's contact name above.
after it rang for a few seconds, it finally stopped and I heard a faint 'hello' on the other side. I put the phone to my ear. "hey, where are you?" I asked him and it sounded like he was panting. "I'm home, you? are you home or are you still at school? if you're at school stay there, I'll come pick you and fourth up." he said and I smiled.
"fourth already left. he had less classes and he went home with gem." I said and extended my hand over my desk, laying my head on it. "they left you at school in the middle of a storm?" he sounded pretty annoyed. "it's okay, don't even come, I'll just wait here until it calms down." I said and heard a scoff from the other side of the phone.
"no way, there's literally a storm outside. I'm coming to pick you up, wait there." he said and before I could complain any further, he hung up.
I looked at my phone and smiled. he cared so much. he was always there for me. while I hadn't done anything for him. honestly, sometimes I didn't think I deserved a friend like him.
after about five-ten minutes, I got a text. it was from beam to tell me he was here. I smiled and sent him an 'okay'. I got up and I walked out of the classroom.
I went down to the first floor and I saw beam's car parked right outside the school. I put on the hood of my zip up and I took a deep breath before I ran out of the school and ran to beam's car.
my hood wasn't protecting me one bit from the heavy rain. it got all over my hair, face and clothes. I got to beam's car and hurriedly opened the car door, jumping inside and closing the door.
I turned to beam but he was already looking at me. "you're soaked." he told me and I nodded. "yeah, I know. let's go, I'm cold." I told him and he started his car, driving off.
